Not sure how "guilty" these are, but:

    Counting Crows
    Nelly Furtado's second album
    Dixie Chicks
The fact that I prefer McCartney, and indeed, Harrison, to Lennon :p
    Vanessa Carlton's second album

    Right :o Yours?

Well, I DID buy the Spice Girls' first album but gave it away to my Finnish friend. Oh, and there's nothing guilty about Paul McCartney! His songs are much better than the solo work of any of the other Beatles.

didnt realise McCartney was something to be ashamed about...*hides in corner*
i also own a "euphoria" something or other cd.....shudder!safely say it was played twice about 5years ago!

The wise man prefers Macca to Lennon.

My own "ahem" moments are to be found marked New Romantic!

Not the rubbish stuff naturally but the best by ABC, Visage, Human League etc.

    Mike.

I'm partial to some Wang Chung. :o

Interesting band, are Human League. After the band originally split-up, Phillip Oakey took-on two female vocalists that he plucked from the crowd at a gig in a Sheffield night-club. That's as far as I know.

Actually, Oakey went on to record the great 'Together In Electric Dreams' with Giorgio Morodor.

I have no guilty pleasures, only pleasures.

Seriously, there's nothing I feel guilty about listening to, even Japanese pop music.

Ooooh nasty song, proberly the worst thing Oakey put his name to!

The Leagues early history is of course tied up the the chaps who became Heaven 17/BEF, who also did some good stuff.

wat the **** is wrong with Counting Crows?! their first two albums are two of the best of the 90's! :(

    guilty pleasures:

have a bit of a soft spot for Savage Garden.
cant believe i just admitted that :(

Nothing's wrong with Counting Crows, I just realise they're not a very well liked band in terms of critical consensus or whatever.

    I like 'em :)

Comments like this show how pointless a thread like this is.

No musical pleasure is "guilty". Perhaps misguided in the eyes of others, but there's no reason that should make you feel guilty - unless they killed a dog in the making of the album or something....

ZZTop's Eliminator album... too much 80's cheesy synths and soulless beats, but underneath there's still a **** hot blues band.

    In the air tonight.
    Phil Collins.
Or is this song officially cool..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,182 ✭✭✭nyarlothothep

    Sussodio, Phil Collins
Peter Gabriel songs e.g. that song about making it big time plus Sledgehammer
Most of Queen Greatest Hits 2 and and most of 3- Invisible Man, I Want It All, Friends Will be Friends, songs like these ones, great songs though!

Why would Peter Gabriel be a guilty pleasure? Brilliant at times, always good.

Aye, they had some great stuff:

    Being boiled
    Fascination
    Open your heart
    Mirror man
    Don't you want me
    Love and dancing

I agree with JC 2K3. I'm not guilty about any pop that I like.

That said, there is very little that hasn't reappropriated by the ironists /student brigade anyway.

Ok, I'm really ashamed of this: The Backstreet Boys. I still like to listen to ehir older albums now and then. It brings me bck to being 14 all over again. it's like time travel!!

Sometimes I'm asked what's the most embarassing album on my iPod - I think this is a funny thread!
I'll have to say Kelly Clarkson and 'Women In Song 6' (the later might be a Canadian compilation that you guys aren't familiar with - yep its bad).

My guilty pleasure is this song right here, its so unashamedly cheesy and happy but i love it.

Their music is not brilliant, but they had a great bass player; just listen to the rhythym section next time you hear a Duran x 2 song- you'll see what I mean.

Yes, Peter Gabriel is fab. The SO album is one of the best albums my pile.

Heres my guilty pleasure - WHAM! - Greatest hits. Some great tunes in there. Great to have roaring out of the car window on O Connell street at 3pm.

Not as scary as above, but Im a big fan of Kate Bush as well.

never.. EVER... EVVVERRR rag on the top. How dare you, wtf do you think you are? They can play what ever they want, and it will rock harder than something really hard. The fking cheek of some people.

Nothing wrong with either of them.

In my opinion anyway. But, then again, I do get a lot of slaggng over my musical taste.

Quality. Ah, there was a real love for that kind of stuff in Cork 10 or 12 years ago, which lasted til about 2001. Mór Disco was a weekly event that featured nothing but jazz-funk "joints", the back bar in Sir Henry's for chilled-out "cats", Soulsides in the Half-Moon Club, Telefunken, Jam in The Savoy.
    Happy days.... *sniff*

Off the top of my head i can think of:
    True. Spandau Ballet
Since you've been gone. Kelly Clarkson.
Also have a soft spot for one or two Roxette tracks. Must have been love etc.

Imagination - tacky British "soul" (I use the term loosely - don't want to insult Marvin et al) group from the early 80s. Top notch!

This guy wins the thread by proving the 'shouldn't feel guilty for any music' posters wrong.
