Failed repeat exam - what are the options?

A friend of mine has failed her repeat exam. Does this mean transferring to fist year of another course is out of the question? She is aware that she will have to pay to repeat first but she wants to do another course. If she has the points is there any chance of getting in at this late stage? She is trying to contact her…
