Mature Students Doing General Science

I am 24 and have never been to college. I got 515 points when I repeated the Leaving and I'm thinking of going back to college next year. I just want to know if anyone knows if doing a general science degree (NUIG) is at all commen for mature students. My only concern is that its not as specific as a denominated degree and generally mature students kinda know what they want etc. So what I'm sayin is that for a 17 year old doin science would be grand cause you could then later go on to do somethin else but would it be a bad idea for a mature student to do it or is it more commen than I think.

Perhaps you could answer this yourself, is there a chance to specialise in the course? If so, after how long does it take?

Well Science at NUIG starts general but gets more specific as you go along, its a 4 year course and I can't see myself doing anything else other than Science. I'm just curious as too know if there are many mature students doing undenominated science.

I did undenominatd science a few years ago and there were at least 3 mature students in my class... you specialise in a particular subject. They too just knew that they liked science and they all have jobs after doing it. At least you know its Science to want to do, thats more than most people know. I'm almost 30 going back to uni after only finding out what I want to do! Look forward to what you may like to do after your degree job wise and that should give you a good idea. Talk to loads of different peopl!
