I remember paying 5 punts for a glass of cider there in 1996.
I hope it's not as bad now ..

I'll be drinking at The Lollipop one of the newer pubs in town because it's usually a good mix of Irish/French and the happy hour works on weekends (rare in Paris).

As I said before on a previous thread, drink at the bar, the price doubles if you sit down and they have to serve you.

Only applies to French bars though, not Irish so it depends on what sort of crowd the OP is looking for.

Another option is to watch the game on one of the big screens / ‘ecran geant’ around Paris, If you are near the Eiffel Tower head to the Esplanade at the Palais du Chaillot, Metro: Trocadero. Its being called a Village of Nations, a multicultural area where rugby supporters can view the games on big screens. The broadcasts will run from September 6th and run through October 20th. Big screens will also be set up in front of Paris’s Hotel de Ville (City Hall) Metro: Hotel de Ville and the city of St. Denis, just north of Paris, Metro Saint Denis - Porte de Paris.

was looking around online a while ago for irish bars in paris and one place i came across was called "the hideout". it looked nice enough, and had extensive happy hours, so wouldve been reasonably priced pints. but its website is down now so im thinking it may have closed or something. any chance anyone knows either way?? (bit of a longshot)

Therze are 2 bars called The Hideout.

One is in the 5th, top of a hill, with a lot of other bars around it.

One is in the 1st, by the Rue St Denis, close to McBrides.

The former is usually cheap and is still open AFAIK. Prob is that it's a little in the middle of no where when it comes to metros and such.

Twas the second one, by Rue St Denis, whose website i came across before. Its central and only a few stops on the metro away from my hotel, so may check it out.

There is an Irish bar beside the Stade de France, at one of the Metro stations, I cant think of the name of it but I hope its still there. There was an off licence beside it also so guess what most people were doing as the match ko became closer!

There's the Coolin, in the St Germain des Prés district. Busy spot for rugby, or at least it was for the Six Nations. As for the Hideout (the one in the 5th), it's a bit...meh. Not really an Irish bar as such. Kitty O'Shea's has a bit of a rugby reputation, so mightn't be a bad choice. Lollipop's always fun too.

I'm coming up for the weekend of the Irl v Fra game so with the distinct possibillity that not ticket will be got, Lollipop is the better option?

I second the Coolín. It is in Marché St Germain, just off Blvd St Germain. The nearest metro stop is Mabillon, line 10 or Odeon, line 4.

Indeed, they have their own RWC website - http://www.coolin-rwc.com/

    Normal site - http://www.coolinbarparis.com/
