Ok, perhaps its just been a strange coincidence for me, but when I try to visit my email (gmail), internet banking (aib) and facebook all three time out.
I can visit the logon page for all three but then it just times out (well, I can visit the gmail FAQ page but not the login one). I cant login to MSN either.

Obviously since Im logged into boards my logic that the sites timing out are connected by the logon field is a bit sketchy. Maybe Im just unlucky at the moment but this Ive been checking and checking for the past 3 hours and I just think its a bit strange.

Can someone please check and see if gmail is working fine, and if it is and the problems on my end some advise please.

I posted this in wireless section because the only different thing about today from any other day is that Im using my laptop in a library wireless zone.
Problem is present with both FF and IE.

    Thanks.

All those sites login using https. So sounds like the wireless zone you're in doesn't allow https connections, only http.

Is there anything I can do about this?

An alternative way of loging into gmail?

Prob not. If the network blocks https then only the network admin can fix it.

I know gmail can use http after you login, but you still need to use https to actually login.

I had the same problem with HTTPS

i came across a site that recommended resetting Microsoft Internet Explorer Settings back to defaults.

    i.e.
    TOOLS - RESET WEB SETTINGS
TOOLS - OPTIONS - go through each tab and select - reset to default wherever you see it.

    this worked for me.
not sure what the fix is for Firefox.
