Powerful wireless antenna?

Big house, many walls, I have a wireless card with the standard small antenna, can anyone recommend a bigger more powerful antenna (not too expensive)? is there such a thing?

i managed to get wi-fi to work reilably between 2 houes that are half a mile apart

heres what i learned

i find the antenna (size, shape, location) makes only small difference


if i want to make it go further i'd use a directional antenna

or i'd use one of the wds repeaters on dabs

any antenna can be converted to a directional using plenty of tin foil to shield the far side of the antenna, this will reduce noise alowing the reciever to pre-amp the signal more

this bumps the signal strength u 3 or 4 fold.
