Thanks for the comments. I spent a few hours working on it so I'm finding it difficult to look at it with a fresh pair of eyes. When I posted it I wasn't sure if it looked finished or not, but I think I will leave it as it stands.
(The inspiration was The Morrigan, a character in The Alchemyst, who could control an army of crows.)
