What do people think of RTÉ's plans to show a live facelift on a woman on The Late Late's return tomorrow night?

Seems like a quick way to drum up publicity.. but in saying that, The Late Late's typical viewing figures suggests it doesn't need much publicity.

I won't be watching... not because it's not interesting, but i'll be tucking into my Special Thai Curry at that stage on a Friday night! ;)

That should certainly "lift" the ratings a little.

Pats getting his chin extended so he can stroke it thoughtfully while pretending to listen to his guests.

Afaik it's my cousin who's doing the facial... he's a cosmetic surgeon in Dublin. It's something to do with threads, they sew litle threads in and tighten it... don't need to be under general anaesthetic or anything. It's a proper facial, not just botox. It may not be him doing it but he did one on his mam for the morning show on tv3 :D And my uncle is going to be in the audience of the show tonight because the same cousin did botox on him.

    Just like this?

Like the producers didn't know what they were doing by showing it....

    smacks of desperation for ratings.

There other star guest this week David Schimmer was already interviewed on TV3 during the week which i imagine upset the late late researchers.

David vs Pat - how boring can it get

His auto-cue is too low, or is he going blind?

Haha Dr. Nick on a thread about Plastic Surgery! :D

Did you see the way the silver fox just ignored your woman at the end of the the plastic surgery bit? Pure class Pat!! Pure Class!

That Pat Kenny fella is truly shocking.

His idea of presenting a "chat" show is to prepare a set of seven or so questions for each guest before the show and stick absolutely 100% to them no matter what the guest says.

Does he evn listen or does he just wait for the guest to stop talking so he can shoot in with his next pre-prepared question?

    Terrible presenter.

There's something a bit dodgy about getting someone cutting threads out of someone's face on live tv. Apart from the fact there's a risk of it going wrong anyway, you've the added fact that he's there talking to Pat instead of concentrating fully on what he's doing.

I think that was Maura Derrane he ignored, i assume she got a look in at the start but all he had to say was 'sorry, we have to move on there' instead of refusing to acknowledge her. Would have thought they would have went back to her towards the end even, she hadn't any chance to say anything for most of it.

    Agreed !
Its even worse when he 'interviews' a comedian. Still trying to get his set questions in regardless.Remember the night he had the lads from Little Britain on. Embarrassing.

Very very odd with Maura Derrane - so bad in fact that I suspect he didn't even hear her: it's hard to believe that was a deliberate cut off it came across that ignorant. The gallery even lingered on the wide shot in anticipation of a comeback, so it must have been an error. He's usually pretty personable in letting people back in.

Although, it was odd he didn't let her have a final word even before her having to interject, given the entire segment went by without her coming back - a strange incident all round...

The new set is better that the Eurotrash of old - but still disjointed and incoherent, with the middle part in particular nothing short of a disaster zone. Talk about an afterthought. The interview lighting for once was fabulous - beautifully subtle.

Did you know that the sound of the audience screaming and whistling on the late late show is actually dubbed in.
Watch (if you care) the next time there's a shot of the audience clapping, you'll wonder where the whistles are coming from. It's really quite stupid when you think about it.

May be down to the fact that it isn't true.
