Keep an eye on their facebook. I think they do music nights at the weekends but not 100% sure on that. You can buy their blend as well now ;)

Top 10 list... Stolen from facebook.

Haven't actually been to a lot of these but not much there to argue about...

A vote for the Hopsack in Rathmines. The brand of beans is "Really Good Organic Coffee". :)

Started roasting my own beans, been to loads of great coffee shops, love coffee.... But, have to say, the costa machines in the garages are great.
Just take the cup out of the way for the first few seconds, (less hot water) put your cup back under, and bingo.
The cup should not be full but just over half filled.
Obviously not the best coffee in the world, but very good

Just been down to Nicks in Ranelagh again.

    1 bag of Sweet Espresso
1 bag of Yirgacheffe(or however you spell it)
    1 espresso

    €10

I don't think it is possible to get better value than this anywhere.

    Hi All

My job is moving offices to across the road from the Barge pub where close is great for a coffee.

    Thanks a million,
    TCP/IP

    Size of bags?

They are unmarked but I believe they are 227g. I'll weigh them to be sure.

I believe the prices were €4.50 and €7 or maybe €7.50

But he gave them to me for an even tenner along with a free coffee.

Well Nicks is a place in Ranelagh that does really good coffee, kind of like a little booth beside super value, about a 10 minute walk from where you are. Other than that I'm not sure as I'm not overly familiar with the area.

There's a small place right beside you there.... it's used to be a part of Nick's (mentioned above) but I believe it's quite good. I also hear that on the next bridge down (Portobello - a 3 minute walk) a new café is doing serious coffee too and.. failing that! Cross over that bridge and there's the Bernard Shaw.

The "house blend" is my staple everyday coffee. Not just because Nick is a neighbour, friend and a great bloke! They're probably 250gm bags.

Folks, any ideas of the closest speciality coffee (or just decent coffee) place nearest to Thomas street/Guinness Storehouse area?

Cafe Noto on the corner of Thomas St/Francis Street was decent last time I was in that area - but that was last summer so I can't stand by it being still good.

The Cross Gallery on Frances St. does nice coffee, Ariosa, but espresso only, and not specialist. The Fumbally is the only 'specialty' place I can think of right now, but even still, it's espresso only using Has Bean.

By the way, for those on the other side of the river, in D8's sister hood, D7, A Love Supreme Coffee on Manor St. in Stoneybatter is really, really good. I've so far only had espresso coffees, but they were perfect. Next time I'm up there, I'll go Aeropress.

The café in NCAD does good coffee, but the food's the star there.

At the Christchurch end of Thomas St., you have that tea'n'cakes style place on Dame St. (sorry, can't remember the name) and on Essex Street, you have Tamp and Stitch, and some other place I can't remember the name of.

It is, indeed, a shame there isn't something better on Thomas St. I'm looking for an alternative to The Fumbally.

I drive past A Love supreme in the mornings, and have threatened to go in - wasn't sure if it was any good or not. Will definitely check it out, thanks.

There's definitely a gap around the Guinness Storehouse end of Thomas street for a 3FE/Vice type place - between the Digital Hub and NCAD, it'd be like shooting hipsters in a barrel.

The Woollen Mills - 42 Lower Ormond Quay - great coffee, they have coffee from Badger & Dodo (badgeranddodo.ie), staff is friendly, coffee is just excellent, this place is always full.

Joe's Coffee (@Arnotts) - I was there three times, first time coffee was very acidic and I didn't like it. Second time I had to wait 15 mins to get take away, even though this place wasn't crowded and these guys weren't busy. So I gave them last chance and once again I had to wait circa 20 mins to get coffee as different client got my coffee. Well not one client, but at least three. So I had to ask them where is my order. These guys are not organized well. I won't come back there.

McMahons near the botanic gardens and Andersons off Grifith Ave are the two best cafes in Glasnevin I wouldn't clasify either as speciality coffee like most of the places mentioned in this tread but both do nice coffee & good food.
