What im wondering is should i get one, it wont happen for a while yet as i need to get camo, but when i do decide to, what manufacturer would you recommend?

I saw a JG version on rsov.com but shiva has a dboys one, i have some faith in JG (found an online review) since ive put near 5000 rounds through the G36C without incident. But people seem to like the dboys ones.

    So, your opinions?

I got liams tm sr 16 and its brilliant except for a fault that happened today the spring in the barrel at the hop up seems to be pushing it back too far so the bbs cant get in to the chamber
result take spring off job done!
(ps dont worry as its not going to move forward )

i've used the dBoys ones and like them. the rate of fire needs uping but other then that there good. and they have rails, big ones. with a full length rail on top.

If i didnt have lots of guns already i'd think about getting one and upgrading it into a monster, a legal monster i might add for anyone with a tendencey to jump to conclusions

I have the DBoys one... and yes the RoF isnt great but its a reliable gun... I've dropped it (several times), gotten mud down the barrell and had it out in pretty heavy rainfall and its still ticking...

My only problem (and maybe its just my particular gun) is that the handguard/rails are very loose and shake a lot, not amount of screw tightening has sorted this for me...

wasnt a problem, on the one i was using.
it is a tough gun though. the rails almost act like a safety cage around the front half of it.
i'd like to up the rate of fire and see how she goes then as it was fine other then that.

the box says it will accept a modified 12v battery so I would say it would take a 9.6v without a problem... that would give you a nice RoF...

also I recently tried a self winding box mag on mine and (now it could have been my imagination) it seemed to increase the RoF a bit

Hehe....funny how you talk to someone at HRTA, and its only days later you learn their boards persona....

True :) thanks again for the go of that box mag BTW

does, takes a xV batt not mean size wise? for example,

the fore grip is big enough to take a 10V batt?

I always thought the physical size of the battery reflected the MaH

Hivemind: yes and no... physical, a battery pack which is 8.4v will be smaller than a 10.8v because there are more cells in the 10.8v, however generally higher mah batteries have larger cells

so that's why you have mini and large size batteries (although some mini's have quite a high mah) but you also have a different number of cells depending on voltage

hopefully some of that makes sense

i just mean that when a description states that it can take a whatever battery, i took it to mean caapable of having the batt in it. unless it stated that it could handle a certain power specificaly.

If it runs on 8.4 then i definitely wouldnt try twelve, if they had a motor that could handel that much they'd put at least a 9.6 in it. Will a higher ROF have a bad impact on the gearbox(excluding being to fast for a full lenght piston)?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

anytime you increase speed you increase the strain on the parts involved. and when parts move faster they impact faster so if two gearboxes break, the faster one is ultimately going to break...... better.

Yeah, I wouldnt trust a clone with an upgraded battery. You could remove a piston tooth. It'll slightly lower fps but increase rof.

if you remove the first 2/3 teeth on the piston and the same on the gear, it will up the ROF by about 600rounds, it
You also need a "sector gear chip" that keeps the tappet plate back longer to allow bbs enter faster.

the reason the FPS drops is that the amount of air in the cylinder drops as the piston doesnt travel as far back in the gear box, about an inch less space.
Compensate for this by adding a bigger power spring such as a 120ms or a 130ms. there is a full guide to it in the last issue of AI mag.
