Hi, I am looking for a romantic place to propose here or abroad, any experiences. I have been listening for *5* years about this great Slieve Russel hotel in Co Cavan for the wedding. Anyone been there/ recommend it?
    Many thanks
PS_ Any advice on the ring would be great, I'm planning to go for platinum

Advice for ring, my advice would be to ask without the ring and then all going well the two of you can go ring shopping after and she can pick the ring she wants. Some rings don't suit some fingers or people.

My husband proposed to me on the top of the Eiffel tower, yes, it is a cliche but it was very romantic, he also proposed in Dublin airport after coming back from a long trip. The most romantic proposal though was when I went down on bended knee on the top of the 15C bus at 6.55am on the morning of 29th February 2000. We got married eventually! Wherever you propose will be romantic.

My husband got the ring made for me, while I love it, I would have prefered to pick it myself.

    Good luck!

When I proposed, my then gf now wife nearly fell out of the bed :D(scarily this is true)
I don't think it matters where or how. Good luck with it

I proposed on the beach at Brittas Bay. It was just as the sun was setting on a lovely day. The sand in my pants was worth it. On the ring, try a wholesalers. Great savings to be had.

That sounds very familar to my story with my fiance :)

My advice is (I'm not married but am engaged) but it doesn't matter where you propose, it's going to be special to the 2 of ye, don't go too cliche or anything, just do something special to the 2 of ye, don't have drink in ya though ;-)

I was thorn between having a ring ready when I popped the question, but I decided that it would be better to let her choose for herself, it was a great excuse to go away for a weekend, and it also ment that we were able to keep the secret to the 2 of us for a while.

Piece of advice tho, make sure you warn the credit card company that you'll be buying the ring, they put blocks in place to stop massive once off spends, might be a scam or something
