Knocked down pillars. Wall reinforcement?

    Hey,
Knocked down my driveway pillars last weekend as entrance awkward to drive through. Have a 2.5 ft high wall either side with no pillars at the end now.
Was going to just finish the job off by cementing a column of square 4" blocks either side of entrance the height of the wall.
Will this be ok, or do I need to reinforce it somehow? metal mesh (whatever this is) etc ?
    Cheers,
    Gar
