Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

    SB: $62.25
    BB: $25.25
    UTG: $33.25
    MP: $73.85
    hero (CO): $124.10
    BTN: $50.00

Reads: Villain is 62/21/95 and seems like calling station although he can and is aggressive pf
I am 19/15/7 with a 33% steal percentage, I have not 3 bet him yet as I can see his calling range been really wide but I have yet to see proof of that

Preflop: hero is dealt Adiamond.gif Aheartnormal.gif (6 Players)
UTG folds, MP raises to $2.00, hero raises to $8.00, 3 folds, MP calls $6.00

    Flop: ($16.75) 2heartnormal.gif 8heartnormal.gif 9spadenormal.gif (2 Players)
MP checks, hero bets $15.00, MP calls $15.00

    Turn: ($46.75) 2heartnormal.gif 8heartnormal.gif 9spadenormal.gif 7heartnormal.gif (2 Players)
    MP bets all-in for $50.85

    Pot Size: $97.60

Ugh, such a horrible card. I bet big pf and on flop because he can call a lot. Is the re draw to nut flush draw enough to call? Would he ever be betting the ultimate scare card as a bluff?

I dont know, interested to see replies on this one,

Do you think he is capable of pushing the turn with 10 10 with the ten of hearts? JJ with the hack of hearts?

Has he ever shoew any aggression post flop?

I prob call here expecting to see overcards, although the open push from a passive villian on the turn is suspicious.

That's a tough spot indeed, against those type of players he either has a monster KQh, 88, 99 etc, or absolutely nothing (missed flop). + the straight on the board.. Again.. interested to see the replies ;)

I'm not sure but he strikes me more of sort of guy whose default is not to push them
A hand I played earlier with him is somewhat decent example

    Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 4 Players -

    SB: $47.50
    BB: $86.10
    UTG: $47.35
    hero (BTN): $49.75

Preflop: hero is dealt 8diamond.gif 8club.gif (4 Players)
UTG calls $0.50, hero raises to $2.50, 2 folds, UTG calls $2.00

    Flop: ($5.75) 4diamond.gif Qdiamond.gif 4club.gif (2 Players)
UTG checks, hero bets $4.20, UTG calls $4.20

    Turn: ($14.15) 4diamond.gif Qdiamond.gif 4club.gif 6heartnormal.gif (2 Players)
    UTG checks, hero checks

    River: ($14.15) 4diamond.gif Qdiamond.gif 4club.gif 6heartnormal.gif 9heartnormal.gif (2 Players)
UTG bets $6.00, hero calls $6.00

    Pot Size: $26.15 ($1.25 Rake)

    Villain shows Q6

So I am not sure he would be sort of guy who pushes hands like that

Tough spot to be in, i would call in this spot even though he has a variety of hands that could have your AA crushed you still have the nut flush draw.

As played your bet sizing seems ok pre flop and flop, ship it......

if he's bad enough to limp/call Q6 utg then im calling here. his range for calling the 3bet p/f is obviously very wide so im sure you can throw a bunch of pair+draw/combodraw hands into his range.

if he turned the flush he probably checks a lot of the time too.

This is horrible, i think i'd fold it, based on what you showed from the other pot, its quite likely you are behind. You played the hand correctly but it still goes wrong from time to time. The fact that he has a wide range does not mean that you call, you have to judge his play as well, and from what you have put up regarding the q6 hand, i would be fearful of a flush, and the fact that you have a redraw does not make it worth calling. The other likely scenario is that he has a set and decides to pump in case you have a high heart. Either way its not worth it in my book, i wait for better opportunities to get his money. i just realised that there is a straight possibilities, and that brings in other hands so its a definite fold for me.

Im calling superquick. There is a good chance you have the best hand and the best draw.

JT is in his range im sure, i dont know, i mean i think he has enough hands that we dont beat to fold tbh.....

random 2 hearts, 78,89,79,JT,88,99,77..... id probably fold as you basically have one pair on a horrible board, he seems like a muppet from the previous hand and muppets can be in there with every one of the hands that beat you as well as air in this spot....

    pick a better time anyone?

If I had given that range at the time then I would called without thinking

    Board: 2h 8h 9s Th
    Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
    Hand 0: 66.390% 66.39% 00.00% 1519 0.00 { AhAs }
    Hand 1: 33.610% 33.61% 00.00% 769 0.00 { 99-77, AhKh, KhQh, QhJh, JTs, 97s+, 87s, JTo, 97o, 87o }

But I felt his range was much tighter.
At the time his bet seemed super strong to me.

is there any particular reason you're assigning him such a tight range?

I think I would (almost grudgingly) call in this spot, hoping that he too had an overpair to the board but fearing a made hand, but I know that I would buddy list him in a flash. Calling a 5xBB raise with muck is just crazy (he hasn't really got implied odds either) and he's guaranteed to spew chips in most other encounters you have with him.

Another possibility is that he's one of those donks who flop a set and decide to go all-in when the board completes any draws that beat his hand.

His passive nature is the main reason and also when someone like this suddenly makes this huge bet it usually screams to me a monster. I just got the sense(and I could be and ultimately might have been wrong) that he wasn't the sort of guy who pushed in this manner with tens or jacks with a heart.
Call it a feel but at the time I thought I was beat, it was about calculating the odds of hitting against his range.

I'm not folding AA with the f/d to this guy on this board..... but expect to be behind a fair % of the time and you still win this about 1 in 5 if your behind

Tough spot, but I am still calling and praying to see 9 10 !!
Would it be possible for him to make this play with JJ\QQ\KK ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,296 ✭✭✭valor

this is a redic easy call

You should probably include 72o in his range now too and he'll think he's great for doing it! If this guy was an unknown then fold but seeing as you know just how bad he is then calling as fine. If he does have a big hand then just top up and know that you will make way more money out of him than you just lost.
