I've been reading this forum for a little while. If asked I would say No, I don't believe in ghosts, the afterlife or people who claim to be to contact spirits etc.
I've never had any visions or seen anything weird (apart from those lights going around in a little circle but thats for a different forum)but if I'm honest a lot of my present beliefs,or lack of them,I could assoicate with lack of belief in the church and it's teachings. In other words I gave up both around the same time. You can't really believe in heaven and not believe in an afterlife. In saying that reading the posts about the expierences of others brought the same feelings I always felt when stuff like ghosts were talked about, wonder, fear and a quick look over my shoulder.I wouldn't blindly believe every story I've read,I'd have to respect the authors belief that what they saw was real for them, but in some cases the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.Would I like to see a ghost, eh, no, but yes because it's a bit of a lonely place when all you believe that after death all that's there is a hole in the ground, a little vision of some sort perhaps would open some doors,if you get my meaning.I read a book years ago called 'seth speaks', can't remember the authors name, but it had a profound effect on me at the time.It was supposedly dictated by a spirit to the author, seth, he was called and covered all manner of subjects from death to reincarnation to other realms of existance, even jesus was covered. For some strange reason I could believe what was written in that book (I read it before my current lack took place) it was a breath of fresh air compared to what my RC upbringing had thought me, I wonder if any of you has read some of seths stuff and whats your thoughts. Sorry for the drawn out post,if anything it was to just break the ice. I'll probably stay cycnical untill I see something, enjoyable reading other's expierences though.

    Welcome to the forum Dubtom.

Interest, and open mind and respect are always great things to have, as is a healthy dose of scepticism :)

Oh, and regarding Seth, I think there are a couple of Seths in different religions. I think there was an Egyptian god Seth, or maybe Set. And iirc there is a Seth who is important in Gnosticism, and was possibly the son of Adam and Eve. You might want to try asking on the Spirituality forum, someone there might no more :)

Hi Dubtom, welcome to the fourm. I haven't read any of the books by Seth but I have read not to long ago "Testimony of Light" by Helen Greaves, which I found opened up a lot of questions for me and gave me a more real (for want of a better word) into life after death, It is again the same as yours as in it claims to be given to Helen through a very dear friend of her's who passed over. It took away the whole fantasy of Heaven or after life and gave me a lot to think about.

Scepticism is in my view vital to the paranormal and a good dose of it is healthy wheather you believe in an after life of not.

    Enjoy the forum.
