see photo below, then read this: (yes, elven even more foxy photo's)

Yes that is my Canon IS USM 17-85MM, that god I had the lens cover/cap on it :D

The fox called around this evening and with the sun out I decided to take some photo's as usual, so he came closer and closer, I didn't like the shots I was getting so I kept throwing some food further back till he was in a, "sweet" spot for me anyway.

As I was changing the lens to a 70-300mm, I left the lens (17-85mm) down beside me and was fumbling in a bag for other stuff, I saw him come in but presumed it was for the food I had been giving him, which was in a bag about 3 feet away from the lens. I took some more photo's of him at the bag and watched him sniff the lens, never expected him to bloody try to carry it off with him, as you can imagine I "shushed" him away. No harm done.

Still working on the title and the ps for it, btw, I just thought you'd all get a laugh out of it :D

    Lens Thief!!

I saw a fox in Rathmines carrying something "expensive lens sized" in its mouth. Coincidence? ;)

BTW, the reason the fox went for the lens is because it smelt of the food as you handled it.

Also, never eat sausage based foods near a dog. :)

I know, makes sense now, I got this tip from a UK website on fox's, if you want to feed them, you’re better off giving them sultanas/raisins !
Yea I thought he was taking the urine, but no, he went for the raisins above a nice slice of ham, even sniffed the ham, then he went for the raisins. The idea being that if you use dog food, you'll attract rodents/cats and “fill” the fox up, while fox's love the sweet taste of the raisins, cats/rodents don't seem to like them ? plus your unlikely to fill a fox up on raisins :p

You wou;dn't think they'd eat raisins alright, interesting tip

As for the title, I dunno, how about "The Fox tries to Steal the Shot"?

That is an absolute classic. Great shot and great story. You should pick your favorite photo mag and send it to them, seriously, you're guaranteed to win the letter of the month :-) Or even try Digital SLR User for the Shoot the Cover competition. http://dslruser.co.uk/viewpage.php?page_id=65

yea, I must pick up a few magazines and give it a go, odd I never bought a photographic magazine before. the only other place I can think of is "Mooney Goes Wild" on the radio, it's not about money (would be nice though) just it would be to have something published, even if its just on the web.

Any other suggestions ? local papers ? is there an Irish Wildlife type magazine ?

I thought it looked a tiny bit dark so looked at it in photoshop... If you do auto colour and auto levels it brightens up real nice!

I'm sure it can be done better, I thought it was funny last night so I just did a very quick PS on it and put it out there :)

Excellent shot well done, definitely a seller!

Great example of what be done with a pet fox ;)

Raisins! The ones I know are more partial to hens & ducks

Well I ran it through PS properly and came up with this, you were right rojo, it does brighten up nicely, then I just did a bit of noise removal. Guess now I have to go a whore myself out to magazines etc., ah well first time for everything. I just thought it was a funny incident, that's why I only spent about 5 minutes on it in PS, you live, you learn.

I have a motto, try everything once, then if you don't like it try it again just to be sure :D

    Fantastic shot - well done!

Mooney has a website on rte.ie all right but I'd aim higher if I had a shot like that.

The camera mags would definitely go with that one I'd say with the lens in the shot, as well as the fact that it's a great photo.

funny thing was it was the only shot I got of him taking the lens, a one shot deal so to speak, I thought he was just sniffing around it, then a moment of sheer terror as I saw him lift the lens :P

does anyone think that his white fur is gone a bit blue ?

No more than in the original. I wouldn't have noticed at all if you hadn't mentioned it.

Muineach, I'd reduce the size a bit. You never know who is looking in here or elsewhere. It's worth protecting from greasy hands.

Thanks for that, I've changed things in flick so no more "All Sizes", kinda makes the whole tihng messy fo doing a C&C, ah well :(

I have it set up so that my contacts can see the large sizes. Most people here are in my contacts so it works ok for them.

Just realised I hadn't got you in there. Fixed now ;)

yep, I just changed it to contacts now, is it worth putting a copyright of x on it ? or should I generally do that for all photo's regardless of the quality ? (PS Action)
