IE7 Norton and Flash Player issue

This one has been driving me mad. I am the administrator on the home pc. When I try to view items on youtube I get an error message telling me that I dont have the latest version of flash player installed etc. This does not happen when other limited account users are viewing youtube. I have trawled the net for fixes to this problem and the only solution I have come up with is when I disable Norton antivirus at Startup on msconfig but surely this is only defeating the purpose by disabling my antivirus. Please help

First step in fixing any computer. Check is Norton installed. Uninstall it, remove all traces, snap the CD in half, burn every bit of documentation, and block it on the firewall so the user can't re-installed it ever again.

    That was the polite version.

Thanks for the help BostonB. After I've done what you suggest is there any particular antivirus that you would recommend?

I use AVG AntiVirus Freeware, AVG AntiSpywhere, ZoneAlarm firewall, (or Vista's firewall), Spybot, Firebox and common sense on the web. Some other things now and then. Generally I'm behind a hardware firewall too. Granted, these are not the best in their fields, but are free and good enough for most people. I also find they are light on system resources.

Everyone has their own favorites though.
