    Hi Guys,

I'm looking to get a Digiglobe (Hidden Satellite) for my apartment on Dublin North side, what do I need to get this up and running

    http://www.digicams-uk.com/category20_1.htm

Besides the one for £250 in the link above, do I need a digital box or a subscribsion to view the channels.

And most importantly can I get sky sports 1,2,3 + Xtra on it?

    Thanks in advance

Thats an unusual idea,I don't know how well a 50cm dish inside that globe would work this far west.
You WILL need a subscription for sky sports.

Don't even contemplate asking about any method to avoid paying subscriptions as such talk is not allowed here.

I'm In Dublin 11. I don't mind paying just can't have a clearly visable Satellite on my outside wall so the digiglobe could do the trick, or I could go for a flat dish, I've seen them on the net.

Do I just ring up sky and hook it up to the dish, or do I get a dreambox or something like that, not sure what they are but a lot of people have them?

I've not used any Digiglobe, or the Selfsat panel "dishes". Not sure how effective they are. Is your balcony south facing?

For a Sky subscription, you'll need a Sky Digibox, not a Dreambox.

I suggest nobody knows if Sky Sports 123x will work on a 50cm digiglobe. Sky is usually on 60cm dishes.

I would buy a transparent dish. Get a sky subscription. when the bloke arrives to hook you up, ask him to connect your dish rather than his one.

Pal, what do you mean by a transparent dish?

In most parts of the UK, the standard dish used by Sky is 43cm. This is considered a Zone 1 dish. The 60cm used by Sky in Ireland is considered Zone 2, and is also used in Scottish Highlands, and more. I know that Zone 1 dishes are used by Sky in North West Wales, and so I can't see why a 50cm dish would not work for you in Dublin. :)

A transparent dish, which cant hide the pole or cables im afraid. Not a good idea for apartments as it has to be fixed to the building and that is a major no no from your building management.

I would install a normal Sky dish on a non penetrating roof mount. This make sure that the dish to deemed a temporary structure and not permanently fixed to the building.

While I haven't installed a digiglobe yet, I think you should get away with it but don't be surprised to loose some channels during heavy rain.

I have a DigiGlobe, and Yes Sky Sports 1,2,3 will work - including HD1&2. I'm in South County Dublin, with a south facing balcony.

In terms of channel coverage, it's very good. All the premium and mainstream stuff is there, it's just some of the lesser known junk that you get problems.

BTW - Save yourself £100 and get it from here - http://www.susat.co.uk/su6110503.php
But be prepared for the shipping, it's a large box and is pricey enough.

As above, you will lose channels during heavy rain - it's happened 2 or 3 times in the past year.
