Hi all, thinking of getting the new PSP this month, I dont have the orginal one. But reason I be getting one is for Pro Evo Soccer and Championship Manager games. Also like the Metal Gear Solid game types. But my question is, are the worth getting fro these type of games??
    Cheers

the only bad thing with the psp is its ergonomics, i find that my hands hurt after a while when playing it, usually anything from 30minutes to over an hour and ill be in pain(usually my knucles and middle joints in the fingers)
even my friends who dont have one, but use mine have commented that they too get pains in ther hands while playing it.

it looks great but really badly designed.
i've had pro evo and it was entertaining to play, so it though, i dont really like soccer games ,the're not really my thing.

that said i still prefer it to any other console, and now its my only console.

Yes, think I will go for one now. Ask guy in Smyths toyshop today and he said they should be in stock on Fri 5th for about 180euros. Mainly want one for Pro Evo and other sports games. Hope Pro Evo is a bit like PS2 one.

It is surprisingly good and faithful to the PS2 one.

I was wondering this also and was fairly skeptical about it, being a huge PES fan.

    But it's great!

I didn't actually know that there was a psp lite coming out until today:o

they should be in shops on Friday the 14th by the way, not the 5th...

Wait for a few weeks after the lite is out, then just get a pre owned psp from somewhere like adverts.ie or gamestop[ask about any pre owned consoles-there often in the back].You may get one for under a hundred if your lucky.

Go for it. I've had mine for a few months now and love it. I can't say I've any ergonomics issues with it. I sometimes play it for an hour or two and I don't get sore hands or fingers.

Think I'm going to pick myself up one of these. It was originally supposed to come out in Europe on the 5th but it's slipped to the 14th. I'm not really surprised as I can't remember any console coming out on a Wednesday before.

well i just got back home from fairgreen in carlow and i got a psp slim in gamestop on its own for 180 euro and then went next door to the computec store and bought a 2gb sandisk memory card for 80 euro so don't buy memory cards in gamestop unless its the only store ya have that sells memory cards cause they are selling 2gb memory cards in gamestop for 100 and mine was 80 euro so now i'm going put on custom firmware on my new psp slim.

I got my PSP lite and have to say Im happy with it. Need to buy a memory card now but 80euro for 2gb is a rip off when you can by them for about 20euros on dealextreme.com!!

    I got a 4GB one on ebay for €30:p

Very happy with my PSP so far, €180 in Smyths with one game (choice of either some Tekken or Daxter (?))

Picked up a psp with burnout for €180 in game and got €10 off with my game reward card (never thought that thing would be useful). I'm having a lot of comfort issues since my hands are big enough but I am impressed with the system overall. Havent found my pro evo groove on the psp yet though. Got a 2gb memory stick on ebay last week for €20 :D

I've heard though that Sony has but better security on the slim so (at the moment) it can't play ISO's. It'll still run a lot of other homebrew applications though.

Not true! It was cracked open before it even launched here!! It can do everything and more than a psp fat.

As for getting one cheap, hmv do a deal where you get a free game so thats pretty good
