I have J 10o (suits are not important)

Villian limps from EP, sb completes, i check my option - pot 600

Flop Q J 9r, checkd to villian who bets 500, sb folds, i call - pot 1600

Turn 10 - check, check.

River J - I bet 1100, villian minraises to 2200 -

raise or call?

If you raise what do you do when villian pushes?/raises?

then the check minraise on the river looks like he was making himself look very strong

QQ does not play the hand like that.

He could have QJ or J9 and this being his reason for leading the flop. I like the raise and call a push option. wtf is a min raise there - so bad!

You had J9. You check call the flop. Turn is a 9. You check, he checks

river is the J. You bet, he min raises


I would definitely 3 bet here.

That would be one hell of a random way to play qq
The min raise is just nasty - read needs to be pretty strong.
He's achieved the one thing that a min raise does really well - Confuse the bejaysus out of good players.
I'd probably just call and stab myself with a pin every time I look at his stack after he calls with 2 pair or bottom straight.

if you consider him a bad player he could be calling from EP with qq/kk/aa hoping for a raise or calling with a mediocre hand like qj/kj hoping no one raises and gets to see a cheap flop

i would flat call he could have played k 10 badly here pre flop and got lucky, i think raising is awful advice as your commiting the rest of your stack if he reshoves and your behind

min raise back again, and make sure you get paid or if he is a very bad player, shove and enjoy the chips. he has a king, i don't see a boat here for him, only one hand here that beats you and he has not got it or else he played it very weird.

I don't think QJ would be that strangely played, it would fit with betting the flop and checking behind the turn, QQ would be a bit stranger alright

There's obviously merit in a flat call as he's very possibly playing either QJ or QQ like that especially with the check behind you on the turn. I think its down to reads as to what I'd do but its either a call or I'm shoving the lot in.

No it's not a joke it's deep stack poker which is about survival and stack building and also putting your opponent on hands - theres nothing wrong with raising here but I'd certainly query the flippant "raise every time" comment.

then just raise to 7500 or something and call a push. The only realistic hand that beats you is QJ, he is very unlikely to have QQ, he could have QJ but equally well he could have 99/TT/J9/JT and he is not folding those hands, he may even call with a straight that he was slowplaying on the turn (unlikely).

Noel, just stuck a post in the IPO team event thread sayin that my team is full but you can get in if i get a likely drop out....although maybe its a bad idea seeing as Wes and Jay are on my team and also still in this but they dont get your wishes haha!
