Just back from Dublin Airport...Michael O Leary is right. I would not leave them in charge of the tv remote control. Landed after a 4 hr flight from Lanzarote. Our slot is taken says the pilot, wait on Tarmac for 20 mins, finally got our spot. Got off plane ....Baggage Carosel is broken another hour.. Pricks !! landed at 00.45 only home now..3.30. I live in Drumcondra 10 mins away. Some poor folks had a drive to the west ahead of them. I drive a taxi. I pick up there at least twice a week, Always An hour delay.. Tossers.............End Rant.

Em Aer Rianta doesn't exist anymore...maybe you should blame Séamus Brennan since he abolished the company that ran our airports on a hunch! It's DAA now!

The Op is right, Dublin airport is a joke, but not as bad as Stanstead in London, the thing that annoys me is they know they can treat people badly and not improve it, because in the end of the day, they and BAA have an monopoly :)

Landed twice in Dublin airport in the past 2 weeks. Was flying from New York with Aer Lingus last week and from Finland with Ryanair on Friday just gone. Had absolutely no problems and was on my way home within 30 mins of landing.

Flew into Dublin last night, gate to taxi rank in 15 minutes (no bags).

Had to listen to the usual whine from a taxi driver about "three jobs to Swords, I'm working since 9 ya know" and "the union are looking at a minimum fare out of the airport, €20, we've to pay the DAA €500 a year".

If the DAA could sort the whining out I'd be a happy man.

Never come across a broken baggage carousel in all my trips through the airport, am usually through the airport and out in fairly quick time too.

Flew in on Friday morning - place was packed but got from plane to Airlink bus in about 25 minutes. Had no problems with service!

Late night flights back into Dublin are generally charter flights, they tend to come in together so there's always a massive delay in getting bags and queues for taxis. Having said that I'd probably blame the pilot for missing his slot. In general airport's not too bad - just avoid flights when the charter's are coming back.

It's check in at dublin airport that's a real nightmare - Arrived 3 hours ahead of flight as requested and spent all 3 of those hours waiting in line to check in. Ended up running for the plane in the end. One girl on the desk and God love her she was getting awful abuse from disgruntled holiday-makers. DAA should insist that airlines and charter companies supply enough staff to cover check ins. It's a crazy way to start a holiday!!!!

flying on short haul flights with only carry on bags are absolutely fine. wouldn't make any complaints about the service from that stand point. however, flying in (out isn't so bad, not much they can do about queues) with bags is a nightmare. last month i flew in from turkey where everyone on the plane witnessed dublins finest airport staff knock all of the bags off the conveyor belt to the ground. i had some mp3 player speakers that were slightly damaged, so i can't imagine what other peoples' goods were like.

after that it took a good hour for the slain bags to find their way into the terminal and onto the carrousel...
