I have a serious problem with my Dell 9150. I downloaded an update to the bios from the Dell site and now my PC wont start. When I turn on the system all I get is a few long beeps and diagnostic lights 3 and 4.

I would appreciate if anyone could offer some advise as I really don't don't want to have to deal with Dell "customer service"

    Thanks

That sucks, Did you apply the BIOS through Windows or floppys?

Remove the BIOS battery from the motherboard and try booting.

Sounds like a memory error, check your codes here then reseat the ram. If you have 2 sticks test them individually in each slot.

**edit**Ive never seen a dell bios f*uck up system board but theres allways a first!

I removed the BIOS battery and the PC started working again :)

I had downloaded the BIOS update from the DELL site and used the Windows installer. I have done this several times before, however this is the first time in Vista.

At least I didn't have to ring India:)

How did you reckon that the system has memory problems based on that fact that the OP said that they had 'long beeps'?
