Ebay item received but not as described

    Hi.
Bought a two-pack 3-in-1 stylus for a pda on ebay from Hong-Kong seller recently (seller with good feedback).

These things are basically a pda stylus with a little biro inside them.
Bought them specifically FOR THE BIRO PART because i already have enough styluses themselves.
Anyway cost me about 7.50 so i thought great.
Received it yesterday but the biro parts don't work on the 2 of them.

Why do i get the impression that this seller sold me these things knowing full well the biro part doesn't work and i won't be bothered to send it back to Hong-Kong (because it wouldn't be worth it for such an inexpensive item).

I know it's inexpensive and all and I probably should just forget about it but I've noticed this a couple of times with buying inexpensive items in the past and it pi$$es me off.

A while ago I also bought what was described as a car charger for a SonyEriccson bluetooth headset (again inexpensive) as well in the past from a seller with good feedback but it seems to be a charger for a SonyEriccson phone instead.

Again it's inexpensive and again i get the impression this seller has the same attitude as above.

    Anyone else come across this.

    .

Just on this point, the headset and phone chargers are the same up until the last change of charger type by SE. It may well have just been for a different headset.

    Or maybe not :)

It was a SE charger alright (ie the 2 ALMOST identical prongs, one wider than the other). It specified the bluetooth headset type in the ebay description and all (hbh 602).

But it definitely wasn't able to charge my bluetooth headset from the cigarette lighter.

Anyway whatever about that, more generally i just suspect a cynical attitude from such sellers.

leave negative feedback so others won't be duped also.

    Yeah but that's another issue.

If i leave negative feedback for them they'll almost certainly leave it for me.

Want to preserve a 100% positive feedback TBH.

I've just contacted the a$$hole anyway, I'll just see what he has to say.

    dont leave negative feedback yet

open a dispute on paypal first. (do this straight away) Its easy to do. ive always done this whenever i had an ebay problem (3 times in total out of numerous transactions) 2 out of the 3 were solved to my satisfaction.

    Thanks.
    Might do that alright.

But as i say if i have to pay for postage to send it back to Hong Kong it kinda defeats the purpose.

ie the postage costs for me to Hong Kong is more than what the item is worth.

Only possible satisfactory resolution is me sending it back and seller
    1) refunding cost of postage
    and
    2) replacing with satisfactory item.

Has this ever been the result in your disputes?

my most recent dispute was over an item that had been damaged in the post. I immediately opened a dispute on paypal and carried all correspondance there. I advised the seller that the item was damaged and said that his packaging was poor. He agreed to refund me what I had paid (including P&P) and sent me a replacement free.

Granted thats only 1 scenario but dont forget to read the feedback on sellers before you transact with them. I know it goes without saying but like anything, it how sellers handles issues that makes them stand out from the rest.

    OK thanks.
That's sounds like the best possible outcome in your case. Very nice.

Hopefully my seller will do something similar.

I'd agree with faceman here, open a dispute with the seller through PayPal. A lot of the time big seller's will usually either just refund the buyer to save hassle or arrange a replacement.

Your best be is to communicate with them through PayPal though, just to show you mean business with the claim.
