No idea, you would have been better advised to have bought a 2nd hand machine, one with a few miles on it, the board would have been ripe for the modding.

I never saw this group before - are they any good? Been intending to mod my wii for a good while now but never had the time to sort out everything and read up on it :/

No mate D2C is a type of motherboard that is in some of the latest wiis. They are unmoddable. They are not a type of modchip. I am not sure has d2c motherboards reached ireland yet an i am getting paranoid because i recently bought a wii and sent it straight to a modder not knowing what motherboard it had. Btw m8 if u are getting a modchip id get a wiikey, its the most common, simple to use, easy to upgrade etc..

Just found he chipped it and hes sending it down 2moz! Great news and i really reccomend anyone getting the wii modded to use him...hes really quick and and answers any question you ask! btw m8 i got a wiikey..its the ole reliable and easy to update nd stuff lik that...some people go on about a wiifree and stuff but that looks well complicates with all the programming and stuff...my advice, follow the pack and go for the wiikey!(and get it done by MCI)

Does your Wii serial begin with LEH 125?

If your wii begins with leh125 it has a d2b with cut legs so is moddable! Wiikey has just updated its firmware after months of waiting so def get a wiikey now! People have always been complainin about the wiikey being unable to play some gamecube games and whatnot but that has all been fixed with this update making the wiikey def the modchip now. Heres whats new!

    - audiofix fixed o_0 |
    | - dual layer support (no bitsetting required) |
    | - improved media support (all supported chipsets) |
    | - full Gamecube regionfree (no-swap/video setup) |
    | - various "smaller" improvements/fixes |
    | - workaround for FW 3.0 gameid limitation |
    | (existing wkb 1.2 discs will boot again) |
    | - "on the fly" settings for gc games (by holding buttons) |
    | - toggle audiofix, diskspeed, force NTSC/PAL

Whats the story with these modchips and the new firmware update?

It wont let you access the area for buying VC games/Internet Browser/Future software WITHOUT the update, so if you mod are you removing the possibility of getting future software?

No. You can update fine. A modchip only interferes with the disk drive to allow back ups and is undectable by nintendo.

Sweet! I had heard about the updates knocking out some functions though... I know the freeloader no longer works, and I thought I heard about it effecting some mod chips too

Anybody know of anywhere where I can get a wiikey fitted for cheaper than €80 at MCI?
