iPhoto 08 does not allow you to store your phot library on an external drive, like the previous version did. Major drawback. My photo library is nearly 70gigs and my HDD is 80gigs, so I either find a way around this or move to another program.

Anyone find a way around this ?

    Googling finds nothing.

The more i read about iphoto 08, everyday, the more i reckon i am better off not getting it.

now my photo library is very small right now, but i was planing ( some day, in the next year) on putting photos onto an external drive.

Will updates fix these problems iphoto 08 seems to have??????

Oh jesus it just struck me. With the new mac OS coming out we will have spaces and that involves an external drive. So one can store stuff there.

So i reckon i will wait till i have the new OS installed before i get iphoto 08.

Am i right or wrong here ??????

so far, the updates haven't solved this one. Thats all I can say.

One big piece of advice. Before anyone upgrades to iPhoto, make sure you backup your library. The upgrade process also upgrades your library to the new format library, which cannot be read by previous versions of iPhoto. So lie in my case, if you upgrade and then want to go back, there is no way unless you extract all your photos from the new library and re-import them. losing your albumbs, tags, ratings etc.

Really hope Apple sort this out.
