I bought a Sony 5.1 mega pixels mpegmovieVX from Ebay. Its a gorgeous little camera perfect to store in your pocket and or handbag.

However, it didn't come with the USB connection for the computer and can anyone recomend a website where I might pick one up. I have looked on ebay and nothing.

I was thinking of going into the Sony shop in Limerick as well.

    Any suggestions greatfully appreciated.

Helen, you got it in one. I've had a couple of students join up to my courses lately who only have video cameras and use the camera's ability to shoot stills as the reason why they don't buy a digital still camera.

I can find my way around most digital still camera's. After 3 years of teaching Digital Photography I've come up against most cameras out there (including the ones from Lidl and Aldi). But everytime a student presents a digital video camera I'm stumped. They work differently from still cameras. You're best bet is to go to the people who know about this stuff first, so the local Sony store is where it's at :)

    USB means "Universal Serial Bus".
    Universal being the operative word.
Go to any electronic shop in Ireland & ask for a USB cable, showing them your camera.
A wild guess would say that you'd need a Male A/Male B Mini cable.

If you have any other USB devices like an MP3 player or card reader which has a USB cable check to see if they work. You might be in luck...

    Thanks Dave and City

I called to the Sony shop in Limerick and they gave me the name of a company in Cork who would have spare parts such as this. Will give them a call maybe on Monday.

    Thanks again for your help.

If you go shopping and you are going to pass some PC shop, take your camera with you and ask them. It's more than possible, that they would have the cable you need, as mentioned above.

Angeleyes, don't go to more trouble than you need to.
You don't need to contact any spare parts company.
I have some cables that I'd gladly give you, rather than allow Sony tell you that you need to contact some company, when they know well that any generic cable will do.
Any electrical/computer store will stock the cable you need.
Just bring the camera with you.

Either of those places will sort you out in seconds.

I have loads of them cables ,do not spend money on one.!

I'm willing to stick with the postage ,if it's the cable you need.

Give me a pm ,should only take a couple of days

Theres a good chance its a none standard USB cable with the composite and usb B on one end and a proietry sony connection on the other,

Whats the model number OP, itll be on a sticker under the camera and starts with DSC....

Most of the newer models in the last couple of years use a propietry SOny cable and not a standard USB B -> Mini cable.
