I was offered a grad position there recently and the job was advertised as 30k starting. Today they rang me and offered me 29k but at the end of the call said I could either take 29k now and have a salary review in February or go a bit higher now with no review in Feb. Does anyone have any experience in this area? What should I do?

Might as well take the 30k now. Chances are in Feb they will only increase it up to 30k (if anything at all - remember, a review is not a guaranteed payrise) so you might as well grab the 30k from the off.

Indeed, take it now. You never know what will happen later.
