I'm getting married soon and will be getting my wife (to be) a present but am looking for something she can keep to remember the day, I know she'll have the wedding ring and photos and things but I want something different.

    Any ideas?

I was thinking a coin, that has our names and the date on it. Does anywhere do anything like that?

    Thanks.

Ya can never go wrong with an amazingly expensive designer handbag ;) Dunno if it's appropriate for a wedding gift though ...

On the jewellery side, pop into Boodles - they have a website as well. You can't really go wrong with jewellery or handbags :)

Why not get her the gold or silver coin and have it as part of the ceremony, we had the exchanging of gifts. Good luck with your upcoming wedding, it truely is a special day but being married is even better :D

Nothing ...Is it not costing you both enough??

TBH I think the whole idea of presents between groom and bride to be silly. I mean you could've spent €5k on an engagement ring for her, then together you could spend €30k on a wedding and another €10k on a honeymoon?!

    Enough is enough!

Good luck with your wedding OP.
I think I saw coins in the window of Fields beside the wedding rings.

By thw way I think its a lovely idea. I know that there has been lots of money spent on the wedding and engagement ring but this is something to remember your wedding day by.

It may be a bit late for a reply but a friend received a lovely present from her new hubbie on their wedding day a couple of years ago.

He bought her a charm bracelet with a charm with the date of the wedding engraved on it. Then, when each of their children arrived, he bought her another charm of the child's intitial to add to it.

Its something she loves wearing to remind her of all the important moments in their lives.

Have to sort of agree with the boinkmaster. Is it not costing enough without adding more to it?

I think the same as you about this. Saying that though, many moons ago when my parents got married (although compared to today the whole affair cost them peanuts) my Dad gave my mum a silver coin and he had a jeweler put it onto a special chain for her. She loved it and always referred to it as "her wedding money".............some ba***rd broke into their house last summer and robbed it along with lots of her other jewelery too:mad:
