We are delighted to announce a new Student Laptop Programme (SLP) for 2007/08. DCU is committed to helping students acquire the technology to enhance their learning experience and to this end has negotiated a very attractive package for them. The package includes a high specification laptop at a greatly discounted price and a host of attractive features which will make owning and using a laptop in DCU a positive experience. The laptops on offer will have a specific DCU image which means that they should be able to use it "out of the box" on campus.

I can't remember exactly what the specs were last year, but isn't this a big improvement? I vaguely remember looking at the offer last year and laughing that mine was cheaper and as good.

I'm looking to get a laptop this year. But have zero idea when it comes to processors and all that. Are them laptops any use? Is the price good or can anyone recommend one?

I'd recommend those laptops as they come without vista. having vista would just annoy you IMO as it would make it slower and less compatible with computing facilities. Apart from that, they all seem fine to me as long as you don't want to play games or anything...
