MacBook Pro Adapter with European Plug?

    Hi Guys,

the search function is not working for me in this sub-forum (although it works grand over in Photography), so apologies if this has been answered before.

I have a 17" MacBook Pro and I'm trying to get a second Power Adapter with a European Plug. I know Apple do the World Adapter Kit, but I have no intention of being in Hong Kong, Australia, USA - but I am in Italy and Spain a lot. I don't realy want to buy a second adapter for €80 and then the adapters for €40.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Any help appreciated,

    Dave

just take out the irish plug and buy a power cable in the other countries you visit. only cost about 5 quid for the cables. or else ebay and see if anybody has the adapters.

You can buy these in the airport on the way out - only a couple of euros. Bring the mains lead that came with the MBP to make it easier.

I was over in Spain last week and the mains plug that came with my MacBook works fine with one of those.

You'll get them in the airport for 4euro or more.

The whole idea with these chargers separating is that they are portable and that you can interchange the short plug for various countries.

I use the actual 2-pin Mac plug that you would get if you bought your Mac on mainland Europe - you know the one that plugs straight into the powerunit instead of the extended lead. Basically just bought my first iPod in an Apple store in Brussels, when they came with chargers, and I just bring that we with me when I travel. That way you just need one power unit and two plug units. You can buy replacement plugs that connect to the MBP power unit from the Apple store online too.

I was in an English airport once ( a few years ago) and a really hot looking girl working for the Orange mobile phone company gave me a free plug. She just came up to me and gave it to me, i did not even see her coming. That plug is the first thing i pack into my bag when i fly to Spain (or anywhere else), it is so handy.
I think that travel kit is a bit to expensive.

True but you don't need the kit. You already have the main power unit you just need a replacement plug which isn't expensive.

moe hit it on the head - just but the figure-of-8 cable for mainland europe and stick into the adaptor in place of the fancy white plug.

cheap as chips!! hell if you're in dublin i'll even give you one
