obviously this is not a medical board and I am not a doctor but:
it is more than likely your poor diet, even the 2 items you mention (sausage-roll & chips) hint at that.
Do some reading on Glycemic Index, it will explain a lot about how certain foods are handled by the body and the effects on hunger and other things. But in a nutshell, high GI foods (those containing a high amount of simple sugars, such as refined white flour like white pasta & starchy carbs like potatoes) cause an insulin spike, followed about 30-60mins later by an insulin crash, which makes you feel hungry.

Thus to avoid the insulin spike avoid the carbs, eat more protein and get your carbs from wholegrain sources - these lower GI foods will allow a steady insulin release and you will feel full longer.

PS - all of the above assumes you eat enough food as it is, not just a sausage-roll and chips throughout the day!

Try not to think of it as a diet, think of it as a diet change, i.e. something that you're changing forever, for the better.

I hear the word diet and I instantly feel hungry! It's a lifestyle change not a diet that you need.
