    Posted the following:

    =====================
    I'd like to chip in.

    I was recently looking for information on a GMIT course:

    I ended up having to post in the Galway forum, which would not neccessarily be read by everyone who went to GMIT.

    I am also looking for a photography course, I would like a GMIT board to ask any students there to keep an eye out.

    I didn't go to the GMIT, and yet here we have a couple of cases where I have to post in the Galway forum, in order to find out about GMIT specific things. I'm sure there's plenty more like me that just gave up when they couldn't find a GMIT board.

    Perhaps now there is a Mayo Forum all posts relating to the GMIT should be duplicated over the Galway & Mayo forums, to make sure they reach something of the intended audience? Would this make sense? Maybe posts should also go into the "West" forum? Perhaps After-hours makes sense because not everyone who went to GMIT is from Galway or Mayo, and we don't want to miss those? Perhaps we could take over the nearest IT board and use the Sligo IT board instead?

    Or perhaps you could get down off your high horse and take the 5 minutes required to set up a GMIT forum.

    Fair point. Said my piece also:

    I would like to have a place to post with fellow GMIT-ians. Boards is obviously an excellent social and communication tool. Having a GMIT board, just like having a Sligo IT or NUIG or [insert list of current college boards] would be a valid addition just like these boards are.

    Especially at this time of year, with talk of grants, GMIT's annual mess of registrations/repeat exams/timetables, and accomodation listings, a GMIT board would be handy. And, to look at the growth rate of GMIT in recent years, it would fit well alongside other boards for organising such social events and collecting topics through the academic year.

    It has previously been pointed out that there is currently a GMIT Computer Soc board that is currently not in much use, a possible simple renaming would suffice?
