One of the lads just sent me a text asking if I wanted to go to France for a world cup game on the 15th of September. I've tried everywhere to try and get flights into Bordeaux that weekend but as you can expect it's nearly impossible. Does anyone have a recommendation of flying into any other airports and possibly make the trip to Bordeaux.

Nearest airports served by carriers from Ireland are Toulouse (AL) and Carcassonne / Biarritz (FR) but I doubt you'll get anything cheap from either of them at this stage - the alternative would be to try some regional airport such as Bergerac, Brive, Rodez etc. via Stansted which would leave you relatively close for a rail link to Bord.

Did you try departing from Waterford - they have a direct flight to Bordeaux (originates in Galway, stops in Waterford en route) They fly on Mondays and Fridays and are still operating in September.

Did a quick check and they've copped the World Cup - flights are available for two people at €1000 return.

    Anyway if you are interested..................

Cheers guys, managed to get 1c flights each way for the weekend planned. Extremely surprised I got them at that price but hey I'm not complaining. Now to see how I can get from Carcassonne to Bordeaux. :D
