I dunno if anyone can remember these, they were toffee like bars of pure spearmint. I havn't tasted these for years but they were my favourite bars as a kid.:) They were light blue in colour!

Does anyone know what i mean, and if so are they still available? :(

stinger bars or whoppa bars? one of them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36,634 ✭✭✭✭Ruu_Old

Ah I think you're right. Whoppas came in 'Kola flavour' (red wrapper) and they had spearmint as well. Stingers were green with pink powder stuff inside but more of a fruity flavour.

gollly, them bars would never make the shelf now, with enough e numbers to kill .....!

in the 80s they could put whatever they liked into food stuff, now its far more controlled.

What does it say about the world when you can buy cigarettes but things with E number chemicals which MIGHT has side affects are withdrawn from the market.:(

Anyone remember the mars-bar shaped mint chocolate bars from years ago?
Had a weird name - maybe Aztec or something?- green wrapper, same size & texture as a Mars but they were minty.
Don't think they stayed on the market any more than a couple of years, but I really liked them.

edit- found Aztec bars on the web, it wasn't them. They were good too though!

The kiddies today don't know what they're missing... damned parents with their E-number scaremongering, trying to blame those for their kids' behaviour rather than be real parents.

Does anyone remeber the 5p packets of crisps you could get about 15 years ago or more (not feelin old at all....)? The bags were about 1/2 the size but were jam-packed with cheap corn-snack type crisps. I loved them....:)

Anyone remember a bar Cadbury's used to do in the early 90s. It was about the same size/shape as a moro but came in a gold wrapper and was stringy chocolate around a chocolatey mousse centre. It's annoying me I can't remember the name of it.

I remember them, they were gorgeous. It's going to drive me mad now trying to remember what they were called.

Edit: Were they called Secret bars?

Just googled secret bars and I came up with this. According to that link it was actually nestle that made them, couldn't remember myself tbh.

Thank you! No wonder I couldn't find anything online about them - I'd the wrong chocolate company  It's an awful shame they stopped making them. They were very very nice indeed.

I lost a couple of teeth to Wham bars. Only baby ones though! The Pound Shop on Talbot St. still sell most of those 80s sweets. Check it out.

Oh used to love Captain Spearmint Bars, and Winger Bars (remember the pink ones). Does anyone remember Two and Two Bars, they were made by HB Chocolate, they were chocolate squares with fudge flavoured cream in the middle - delicious! And the other choc bars i think animal bars that had 5 squares and each had a different flavoured fondant in the middle, orange, lime, strawberry, coconut and fudge - Yum!!

no one remembers these but i used to buy about 4 or 5 them when the ice cream man used to come around our way on a Friday
Battle of the Planets bars - they were small thin taffee type bars in different flavours such as strawberry and grape and were still on sale years after BotP went off the air and cost 5p

I remember Battle of the Planet bars. I used to love them! The wrapper was made out of paper too, if I recall correctly. Gargoyle bars, now they seem fairly rare. They were like Dan Bars only green.
