Anyone know if Bioshock is coming to the PS3?

Also are people excited about Fallout 3?

Nope, Bioshock is for Xbox 360 & PC only. No planned release for PS3

That is bad news indeed, the PS3 needs some good titles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,393 ✭✭✭✭Vegeta

well the same was said about oblivion wasn't it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I believe there was a reference to the PS3 in the code from the PC demo version... some people got a bit excited about that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭silvine

Bioshock demands a high-spec PC. I was kind of hoping it would come out on the PS3 so I wouldn't have to upgrade.

I used to love the System Shock games...

Still Fall Out 3 looks very promising, especially after Oblivion which could keep me entertained for months.

There probably will be a PS3 version eventually. But as is blindingly obvious, all the best games coming out over the next few months are Xbox 360 :D

Yeah I took a gamble getting the PS3 (Halo 3, Gears of War). I hope it delivers the goods.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Halo 3, Gears of War on PS3???? 2 titles which PS3 owners will never have the chance to play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭silvine

I meant by buying the PS3 I was missing out on the chance to play those titles.

You get a payoff from that gamble in 12 to 18 months time.

Bioshock has been confirmed as not coming to ps3 http://kotaku.com/gaming/denied/levine-there-will-be-no-ps3-bioshock-293304.php.

I wouldn't worry though, the PS3 has a number of good games and will accumulate more. Just as the 360 has (has more)/will:D .

Still I think it's things like the xbox/pc bioshock exclusivity that are much more important to the console war than Halo/MGS. Each console has it's pro's and cons but the thing that lots of people forget is that loads of people don't give a crap about Halo 3 and just as many people don't care about MSG4.

I think you mean 'won't be available on the ps3' cos as a PS3 owner I can assure you i've played and completed Gears of War. Just not on my ps3;)

but will the wait have been worth it. Sure a few excellent games are going to come out on the PS3 in that time period but how many 360 exclusives will have been missed.

Save more money and get an elite as well :D:D

its a celebration bithes, enjoy yourself

That's about what you had to wait for decent games to start coming out on the 360.

Yeah... not much else... and I can't stand MGS games either... not fond of GTA either.

Final Fantasy would do it for me, but that could be 2 years off.

At least I have BluRay to comfort me, right? Right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭silvine

Well there is GTA IV and Fallout 3 but they're not exclusives.

And from the sounds of things, MGS4 isn't going to be exclusive for very long after its release. Fallout 3 is PC, PS3 and 360. GTA is going to have exclusive content for Xbox 360.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,479 ✭✭✭lee_baby_simms

Fallout 3 is Xmas 2008 at the earliest.

Is Final Fantasy 13 possibly that far off?

Its worrying how many ps3 development horror stories keep turning up every week.

It seems so many games are either delayed or multi platform titles watered down.

I'm not a fanboy by any stretch of the imagination Lee. Its just very plain to see which console has more going for it over the next 12 months.

Apart from Unreal Tournament 3 which seems to be going in the opposite direction, watered down on 360, full functionality on PS3. Or PES 8 which supposedly will have extra content on the PS3.

It's kinda pointless worrying about the upcoming releases on the ps3 or the 360 because we can't really do much to change them. It's best to just enjoy the games and be thankful if you're lucky enough to have both systems and be able to play everything.

Yeah, it seems it's taking developers much longer than expected to get to grips with the hardware and get the most out of it. Even been a few developers giving out about the architecture of the console.

Fair enough, i think that point has been made a few dozen times already though.

Theres a good few people who have both machines and are therefore not interested or consumed in an either or vs battle that has already been played out to death around here.

the last console i bought before ps3 was the ps2 (but my bro got a wii) So games that came out first on the xbox wasnt a problem for me. I bought the ps3 in july and i bought ninja gaiden sigma, Rainbow 6, and Oblivion(yes there all on xbox but i dont own a xbox!) And honestly, i havent even opened oblivion yet the other 2 have kept me busy!
People will be saying to me a could of bought an xbox for cheaper but there was things a liked more about the ps.
Its wireless out of the box(€80 for the xbox adapter!)
    xbox controllers require AA batteries
Inclusion of Hdmi port, i know the elite has one but what price is an elite, €460? Add €80 for wireless , thats €540, for an extra €70 you can get a Ps3 with 2 games and an extra controller . So is the ps3 that much dearer than the xbox really?
I only know 3 people who own an xbox 360 , 2 of them have got "the red ring of death" (in fairness to microsoft , my uncles one was out of warranty and they still fixed it for free)
Free Psnetwork access , the xbox one is prob better but id prefer it to be free, incase i never used it!
    Downflaws of the ps3 are:
Should have came with hdmi cable, the elite does as far as i know
There exclusive list wears thin, but to be honest i couldnt care if a game comes out on the xbox too, infact i think its better when they come out on both.
    Should play more video formats!
The list of games isnt huge, but i dont know about you but i have enough to keep me going for ages yet!
Having a bluray player is grand and all but its not a reason to buy the console, bluray might not win out! Neither of them might! Quality leap from vhs to dvd was huge, dvd to bluray/HDDVD is noticable sure but not amazing.

If you buy either console youll be happy with it i reckon.

Eh, no. The 360 had some good games at launch, just like the PS3 did. Its first great games (excluding Condemned and CoD2) were GRAW and Oblivion, which were released with 6 months of launch.
It then has had numerous other 8-9/10 games on a regular basis since then.
    xbox controllers require AA batteries
Wrong, you can use AA or you can use the specific rechargeable batteries for it.
Inclusion of Hdmi port, i know the elite has one but what price is an elite, €460? Add €80 for wireless , thats €540, for an extra €70 you can get a Ps3 with 2 games and an extra controller . So is the ps3 that much dearer than the xbox really?
Premiums and Cores are now shipping with HDMI. For €400 you could get a premium with 3 games and an extra controller, and €80 for wireless and your PS3 (with a game less) is actually costing you a lot more. Granted you don't have some of the advantages of the PS3 but even the Elite comes with a free game in most places and for less than €460 (e.g. €440 in Virgin with Bioshock).
I only know 3 people who own an xbox 360 , 2 of them have got "the red ring of death" (in fairness to microsoft , my uncles one was out of warranty and they still fixed it for free)
Warranty was extended to 3 yrs for rrod, so no machines are currently out of warranty for it.
Free Psnetwork access , the xbox one is prob better but id prefer it to be free, incase i never used it!
Its not a required purchase so if you don't use it, don't buy it?

Sorry, I was being a bit of a smartass,

I meant the "Killer App". People continually say that the ps3 has no games whereas there are a number of really good games on it. When you point that out people says "Where's the Gears of War?, where's the Bioshock, Halo etc." and I was referring to the fact that it took quite a while for the 360 to find it's feet in terms of "Killer apps"

Have the hdmi premiums and cores arrived in ireland yet?

What i mean about the network access is that for example i bought the network adapter for old ps2 thinking id use it, i used it once! At least if its free i can use whenever i want , i dont have to worry about it if i dont either!

So is the elite really just black and has a 120gb hard drive?thats the only diffrence? why the hell does it cost so much more?!!

Sorry the elite price i got of play.com, komplett have it at €508 neither of them have games bundled!!

I got my Ps3 in america so for €530 I got the console, 2 controllers, 3 games, a blu-ray. So to be honest im happy with that!

Regardless of whether they extendent warranties, id expect my investment to last longer than that! Its the hassle of sending it away.

Its just very plain to see which console has more going for it over the next 12 months.

If your Xbox lives that long :D It would seem that the xbox has all the games but not the life expectancy to play them ,

The PS3 on the other hand , is a fine piece of engineering , but no games , however it stands a reasonable chance of still being alive when they do come , and they will come.

Me , Im a gadget junkie , when they fix the xbox , I'll get one , meanwhile my PS3 and the Wii will do.

I bought the PS3 for its upscaler though , so its in my home cinema room , if good games come , all the better , but Im happy enough with its HD capabilities , its the cheapest one out there and one of the best performers by far.

The Xbox 360 HDDVD solution though , is just too ugly to mess up my decor with , wouldn't buy that no matter how reliable it was , if i do go HD DVD it'll be standalone or not at all.

Rather than making sweeping statements maybe someone would care to explain why the 360 apparently has so much more coming to it? Looking at big exclusive games between now and Christmas:

On 360 there's Mass Effect, Halo 3, Project Gotham 4, ... um, what else?

The PS3 has Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Unreal Tournament 3, Haze, GT5 Prologue all exclusive either for this year or permanently.

Then you've got Assassin's Creed, CoD4, PES, Rock Band etc that are multiplatform.

Both consoles have great games but I don't see how the scales will be hugely tipped towards the 360? It will probably have a greater quantity of exclusives, simply because of all the lower tier PC ports it gets, but in terms of important big budget titles as far as I can tell the PS3 has more coming. And that trend looks set to continue into the future as the PS3 gains ground on the headstart Microsoft had.

I'd definitely add eternal sonata to that list. Also Bioshock and Blue Dragon have just been released. At the end of the day it's a matter of taste and nothing else.

Exactly. It's a pity more 360 fanboys don't realise that.

Oh and Eternal Sonata looks great actually, I'll definitely be picking that up but probably after Christmas when the rush has died down. Blue Dragon is meant to be fairly poor though.

Has been getting mixed reviews alright (edge gave it 6/10, GamesTM gave it 9/10). For somebody that likes this type of game and doesn't get to play too much of them, it's great:D

There isn't really enough time (or money) to play all the games coming out for either platform :D
And in reality you shouldn't care. If there are enough games on your console to keep you busy stop looking at the other console (360 or PS3) and complaining about it. Just enjoy what you have.

These arguments have gone on since the Spectrum Vs. Commodore, Megadrive Vs SNES and they'll still be going on long after the 360 and PS3s are wasting away in our attics.

I have both anyway. Well, I sold my 360 recently but I'm picking up an Elite soon.

I just find it annoying that you rarely seem to get a thread on the Playstation board without people coming on with the sole purpose of slagging off the console and going on about how much better the 360 is. You rarely get that problem in the other console forums.

Maybe it is because there is a large number of people who bought a PS3
expecting a great games console only to discover that if they already
own a 360 there is nothing new, exciting or worthwhile to purchase
since launch to justify their investment (especially if you already
have a decent collection of 360 games). Look at how many threads
there are on this board wondering when there will be any decent
games out for the PS3 and members asking others do they regret
their purchase of the PS3 as a gaming console.

The difference is nowadays plenty of people have multiple consoles
whereas back in the 80's it was more typical for someone to have
only one. Owning multiple consoles allows people to not only easily
compare and contrast the features of both but also increases the
pressure on companies like Sony and Microsoft to get to market first
and to have more unique and non-multiplatform games, something
Sony have failed at to date with the PS3.

    Motorstorm
    Resistance Fall of Man
    Ninja Gaiden Sigma
    Ridge Racer 7
    Virtua Figher 5
    Warhawk
    Stardust HD
    Calling all cars

Of course then you get the non-exclusive games that have added material/modes like:

Rainbow 6 Vegas, including all the map packs you originally had to buy on 360
Oblivion, with better graphics and extra quests
Fight night round 3 (with the first person knockout mode)

it all comes down to opinion, just because you may not like some of these games doesn't mean no one else will and it doesn't make them any less new, exciting or worthwhile.

    I have a 360. Since PS3's launch, I've bought and thoroughly enjoyed:

    Resistance: Fall of Man
    Motorstorm
    Virtua Fighter 5
    Super Stardust: HD
    Warhawk
    Ninja Gaiden Sigma
    fl0w
    Tekken 5 (now online)

I've bought a couple of others too, but I couldn't honestly say they're as enjoyable as those above. But the number of titles listed above is about the same as the number of 360 games I've bought in the same period. And looking toward the end of the year, there's about as many games I want on PS3 as on my 360 (if not a couple more, actually). And if I'm honest, both systems have more interesting looking games coming in the next few months than I'll likely have time to play anyway.

It is purely a matter of taste. I'd also point out that a number of the threads you talked about seemed to be started purely as flamebait by fanboys.

GRAND HERMANO- u made a great point, i myself have a 360, i bought it to fill in the gap for the much delayed ps3- i was never a fan of Microsoft i was sony all the way.

i got the ps3 on launch- it failed to impress me. i sold it within 3 weeks.
sony made no effort to stock there store with the range of 1000's classic games they could have put up!!

seriously the is such much negative things that can be said againtst sony im not event going to botherr, i dont want to kick someone when there down.

Final Fantasy would do it for me, but that could be 2 years off.

After the mess that is practically all of square's output lately including FFXII I wouldn't hold out much hope. I'm playing Blue Dragon at the moment on hte 360 and it's a better FF game than any official FF game square has brought out since FFX (I'd ignore the negative reviews of Blue Dragon, It's nothing earth shattering but it's heaps of fun). Got a PS3 recently and couldn't even think of what games to get for it. I eventually got 3 second hand games that are also available for the 360 because they were cheaper and better than any of the exclusive games on the PS3. It's really abysmal at the moment but then again consoles usually have a year wait before the good stuff starts to arrive. Happened with the 360 and the Wii seems to be pulling out of it's slump so hopefully the PS3 will as well.
