Just bought myself a wii over the weekend, and so far so good! plan on picing up zelda during the week but I was also thinking of picking up some gamecube games for it already. Any reccomendations of what to get and where to get them? Specifically I really want to try paper mario and the metroid prime, I've tried a few gamestops but the selection is fairly limited. So is ebay the best bet or am i missing something blindingly obvious?

    Cheers.

Ebay is probably your best bet. But some games like Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Smash Bros. Melee still reach in excess of 30 quid so they are not the cheapest.

    A list of recomendations;
    • Mario Kart Double Dash
    • Super Smash Bros. Melee (Although you might want to hold out until the new Wii version)
    • The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
    • Super Mario Sunshine
    • Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
    • Pikmin 2
    • Beyond Good and Evil
    • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I'd like to add to that list

    F-zero GX
Resident Evil 4, if you haven't played it already
    Resident Evil

And metroid prime 2, after you play MP1. Ebay is prob best bet, But I'd heres a few sites that might have some of the games

    www.cdwow.ie
    www.blahdvd.com
    www.sendit.com
    www.play.com

Don't forget that there is a version of RE4 for the Wii. Better to pick that one up.

Also have a browse around Adverts.ie. People are always offloading Gamecube games there and you can pick up a bargain every now and then (Beyond Good & Evil and Paper Mario 2 for example :))

Cheers for that lads. I hera RE4 fro the Wii is the definitive version but I already have it for the PS2. Can't really justify buying it again to myself, despite the motion control-ery goodness.

I'll probably pick up a few of those games on ebay over the next few weeks, though im hoping the price for paper mario will go down once super paper mario is released.... Also is Mario Sunshie any good? I hear fairly mixed things about it, from "pretty good" to "awfull".

Sunshine is definitely worth a try,

Its not as bad as a lot of people claim,

But its not as good as 64. Not even close really.

But I enjoyed it and would recommend it

Sunshine may have been a little bit of a disappointment when it was released, but it is still an excellent title.

It is very challenging in parts though... so if you don't like getting utterly frustrated you may want to think twice.

Yeah I love those pure platformy no-fludd levels tho! :D

    Haha yeh,

    Best levels in the game,

because they are essentially a throw back to SM64,

And the bizarre thing is, they are all in space, and Mario Galaxy seems to be a lot like them in places.

Made me a bit disappointed playing Sunshine at times, cos i wished that the whole game was like that. Fludd was the main bad point about the game.

i gotta say i loved sunshine, i just saw fludd as a replacement for the red cap from 64 and the long jump, the pure platform levels are great though sept for that one where on world 8 where you had to go round the whole level without fludd and it was almost all covered in fire, i stopped playing for months over that...i eventually went back to it and got so annoyed i jumped in and out of water until i cleared a path through the fire (so i guess i didnt beat it but morally i win :) but id say buy sunshine its a really hard and really enjoyable game and i think it has the best controls of any game ive ever played...they just feel so fluid

Anyone who slags off Mario Sunshine is open to the abuse and ridicule they deserve without any retributions from me (not sure the other mods will agree). It may have not been a M64 beater and was frustratingly difficult at times but it's hard to find a better platformer of that generation.

I totally agree, I absoluetly loved Sunshine. FLUDD was a little annoying when it talked... but the game was great! The level at the hotel where you had to fight the thing outside was so hard the first couple of times!!!

Yeah you could pretty much finish the game easily enough, but clearing every single level was insanely hard in some places!

Having thought about this and giving the game an hour last night,

I realise that one of the reasons it disappointed me is the whole Isla Delfino "world map".

It just wasn't a patch on the castle in SM64.

I used to hate running around the town.

The levels themselves were great though.

Definitely in my top 5 GC games.
