They used to be a common sight in rural Ireland (especially Bank of Ireland and AIB) and they used to go to some large places of employment on payday.

Are they still going? I haven't seen one for years.

Gone a long time now but I remember them when the mart was on every month years ago.
If you ever watch Nationwide you'd see people in the West complaining as they were being stopped.

Never coming back as you can do all this in most post offices these days.

Of course, the fact that banks don't want customers to darken their doorsteps these days (customer=hassle) has nothing to do with it.....

    Do mobile libraries still exist?

They certainly do (in my area of Dublin anyway!). There was a thread about them here a while back.

Fingal County Council Mobile Library Service:

"Fingal County Libraries Mobile Service provides a library service to those who are not within easy reach of a branch library. The Mobile Service currently calls at 45 different locations in Fingal, including housing estates, rural villages and National Schools."

Still a travelling AIB on to Arranmore too; used to be the NIB - was the source of some great jokes about peoples "off shore NIB accounts - Arranmore branch" at the time.

I think every county still has a mobile library....
