    Early stages of an STT.
UTG the gun with 1,550 and pick up QQ.
Min bet to 80 hoping for a raise which I get from seat 2 who has 2,900 and min raises to 120.
MP ON 1,860 calls for 120 so I re-raise to 480 and both call.
Flop comes J64 with 2 hearts.
Comments on opening min. bet & where I go now please.

    Min Raise sux.
I tend not to do this without AA or KK.

    Open for 120-200

Bet about 3/4 or 4/5 pot.

hate the min raise, absoutely despise it... maybe you should have raised a bit more after you were re raised too seeing as how the re raise got a call and its an online STT and they are fishy?

are you prepared to fold this flop????

if you are bet 3/4 of the pot and fold to a shove, if your not bet 3/4 and call the shove!

Always a good idea to include the Site and the Stake, as a $5 STT plays different to a $100 STT, and FullTilt plays different to iPoker.

Pre-flop. There is never any good reason to minraise utg when the blinds are so small compared to stack sizes. Theres been loads written on here about why its not good. Then your 4 bet just announces to the world that you have QQ+ to be honest. If you'd raised proper you could have got more chips in the centre with your hand disguised (or you could have pushed pre-flop as a 4bet with the likelihood that one or other of the players are committed with a range that you are on the good side of).

MPs flat call of the 3bet and the 4bet screams midpair or suited A, so many poor players play stick with these regardless of their ever diminishing implied odds.

UTG+1s min 3 bet is problematic, the fact that he just flat calls youre 4bet instead of doing another minraise would lead me to think that its more likely AK or AQ rather than a bigpair, but I wouldn't be sure.

    Flop.

Theres 1500 in the centre, you have 1100 behind so you have no room to manouvre. If you bet then you have to push, and I don't think you can get any hand that beats you to fold, (and the nutflush draw would have close to the correct odds to call you anyway) so all I'd probably check call.

Hope that helps (I don't give great analysis, my thought processes are clear in my head but jumbly when I write them down :) )

lol, we have just over 1k left and there is 1.5k in the middle.

So you think we should throw out a little feeler bet of maybe 80-100, if we're raised we know our hand is no good?

ha! :D just noticed the stack size/pot size lol, yeah this is now a horrible spot, you cant bet small, its too weak looking and gets played back at alot and we cant really call a raie if the purpose of betting is to find out if were good or not........ em, ship it? maybe!

im definatly going to lean more toward shipping then folding especially cause its possibly a lower limit online STT??? standard is normally poor....>>>>>>>>

Yes, though sometimes I could find an open fold.

If Podge and Rodge put more effort into advising the OP, and less effort into taking the piss out of a couple of poor replies, then the world (or the small part of it this thread represents) would be a better place.

    It's a $20 STT on iPoker.

Agree now my Min. bet is horrible so that little experiment is over
Armanis analysis is usefull and close to where I was thinking.

It's push or check/fold now and what I'm really struggling with is what seat 2 could possibly be thinking with a min. raise.
Perhaps teasing me into re-raising? Which is exactly what I did :(

Can post the result at any time but I'd love to see more input 1st.

whats this about such low bets. you gotta go even harder in the early stages, you must make it either 5 or 6 bb's to go, that is the way to play in stt's in the early stages, its big bets and super aggressive, only way to go. you don't want to get involved with a multi way pot this early. there are only two hands that are possibly ahead of you at this stage, and the possibilities of you colliding with either of those hands is low, so you got to set out hard, any more that one caller is a disaster. but after that flop if you are head up, you have to be confident you are ahead.
As played, you let too many in, so its a folding hand now.
