    Hi guys,

I recently upgraded the ram on my dell inspiron 6000 to 2Gb and installed windows Vista Ultimate, all of which I like a lot.

However I have a Canyon wireless mouse and when i plug it into the USB port I get the Driver not installed due to missing detail dialogue.

Canyon support haven't got back to me yet, Any ideas about software I can download?

    Oh dear.

If the hardware is non standard then it's really up to the manufacturer to provide drivers, unless they want to annoy customers. There are brands I won't buy because of previous lack of driver support. Talk to any Linux user about Broadcom ;)

If the hardware is backwards compatible with industry standard drivers then you might get upset with microsoft. This is where you have several devices with the same chip set but Windows won't install a driver because the PnP / PCI ID are different. The prime example would be the orinoco wireless cards, = avaya = agree = bufffalo = entrasys = many more names. In linux they would all use the same driver.

If the hardware is older but there is a massive user base then I would also expect the OS writer to provide drivers. But not for rare stuff.
