Having been at the Peoples Photography and seeing some of your prints from Photo Printers I was very impressed with the quality.

    Can you recommend a printer?
    Where to buy it?
Also where is the cheapest place to buy ink cartridges and paper?

    Cheers
    L

On that same point - do you find it cheaper and better quality to print the images yourself, or is it better by using a print lab such a Photobox??

    Just curious.

I use the Epson R1800. It will print up to A3+ size and also photo paper rolls. Must order one for some panoramic prints. I will have to try and work out how much it's costing me per print.

I'm using the epson r265 - it costs as much to refill the inks and buy paper as it cost for the printer itself...

I found it incredibly handy for stuff like the cards. It drinks ink like nobody's business though if you're printing something with bright colours or lots of shadows. I'd rather keep the printer at home for experimental stuff (want to try printing on fabric or handmade paper) but use photobox for the 'proper' prints, so long as you're calibrated for them and know what to expect.

Sorry for bumping an old thread ,but I'm in the process of looking for a printer.

I'm basically looking for something that's cheap to fill with ink ,rather than quality.

I was aiming to buy three full ink sets ,like below. To go with it ,

I'm not sure whether to go for a more expensive printer ,I won't be archiving the photo's or anything. Just for mucking about with.

    I
'm basically looking for something that's cheap to fill with ink ,rather than quality.

Ive been down that road and it just doesnt work , cheap refills are ok for printing letters and the odd page off the net ,
But they are completely and utterly Useless for printing photos , and will destroy your printer in no time , Ive wrecked two good photo printers ( including an expensive R800 ) by trying cheap inks and the photos always turn out crap , the ink wont dry properly and smudges at the slightest touch.

If you want quality prints at home , then stick to the manufacturers ink and buy from a reliable source , if that works out as too expensive for you then go to the printers.

Have to agree with Mathias steer clear of the cheap inks for photos or even to avoid bricking your printer, the only system I've ever seen get a decent review is the one from permajet and thats not cheap to set up.

There was talk a while ago of Kodak bringing out low cost/low running cost photo printers but I haven't seen anything since.

Thanks for the advice ,Viking sell original ink for the r360 ,45 euro for a full set.Seems to be the easiest place to locate ink ,amazon won't ship here

    7Dayshop don't seem to stock r360 ink.
    Cheers,
    Brian.
