Im just wondering, am I the only one thats getting such bad speeds with eircom?

I'm paying for a 2meg connection at the moment which is supposed to be 2meg down, 256k up. I've checked everything and it doesn't seem to be my network.

Nobody using the wireless either as I have it turned off. Heres the speed test results!

I'm also on 2mb Eircom Broadband.
    Results as of this morning:

You should probably try another speed test just to see if it was a once-off.
I believe lots of things affect your signal including distance from server etc.

I also have 2Mbps from eircom(only came available in the last month), i usually get speeds of 1.4 to 1.7 Mbps, never had any problems with it.

    Try www.irishisptest.com

It seems to be a feature when you are a bit farther from the exchange to get lower than the purchased speed. I've seen 1Meg giving as low as 192K!

the further away you are from the exchange the less speed you will get from your connection, if your living on top of the exchange or within a reasonable distance from it then you would have a case, but if its miles away then theres very little can be done about it

i have the efibre and evision package and it is just terrible. i have had it some 4 months now and it is always the same issue intermittently slow speeds and then when the evision is turned on just forget about it. then i rang up to complain and told them i am an employee of another telecomms company who also supply home phone and BB... and i am met with nothing but negative attitudes...ive had my line tested several times, new modem and an engineer out to the exchange / cabinet, but still they wont accept my issue and just leave me out of the contract. i have been through every setting you can think of in the modem... because im am trained in that area... oh did i forget to mention i am a tech support guy... i could rang on and on and on about eircom, then last week i got onto them and said i would be going to comreg about unfair treatment and the speeds issue at hand. they just did not care. the reply i got after ringing up 6 times was you have only every rang in 2 times to complain about this issue. if you have rang in 6 times the calls where not logged. then the agent past me from care to tech to cancellations to tech and then back to cancellations...

my line has been tested and there is nothing wrong with it. i have had 2 modems and 6 dsl cable + 4 splitters and still have this issue has anyone had any similar to this

My family have that package too. Performance was a nightmare with nothing wrong with the line either. Nearly drove me nuts. Then I saw on a Uk forum that the Eircom efibre F1000 router was very suspect. Also on that forum an Irish guy had published an unlock for it. I unlocked my F1000, flashed the latest Zyxel firmware and my problem ended. There is an unlock thread on these forums that tells you how to or you can get it done on adverts.ie

    Good luck to you.
