I've decided to compile a list ranking Irish fighters(north and south of the border) who have been active in the last 12 months . Fighters are listed by boxrec's rankings .

*Matthew Macklin is English but of Irish parentage , the reason he is in these rankings unlike other fighters of Irish parentage is due to the amount of time he has spent in the country while young and currently , including fighting here .

**Billy Corcoran is incorrectly ranked at Super-Bantamweight by boxrec and I'm not sure if he or Martin Lindsay would be ranked #1 should they both be ranked at Featherweight .

I apologise if I've left out any active Irish fighters , especially Northern ones as they can be hard to detect on boxrec if they're not fighting or living in Ireland .

upcoming fights for those ranked fighters:
Heavyweight: #1 ranked Kevin McBride faces Andrew Golota(39-6-1) on the 6th of October on the undercard of Maskaev v Peter , the Pole who has fought for a version of the heavyweight title 4 times(and for each of the big 4) . Golota although often crazy and out of shape should have too much for McBride .


Light-Heavyweight: the BBBofC is likely to sanction #1 Brian Magee to fight Tony Oakey(24-2-1) again for the British title . This will likely end up in Oakey's home town of Portsmouth .

#2 Alo Kelly fight reggie LaCrete(4-0-0) on the 14th of September , considering Kelly only turned pro last month it looks like he's being served as cannon fodder .


Middleweight:Emmanuel Steward mentioned that #3 Andy Lee could be back fighting again in Ireland on the 17th of November in Limerick . Lee is likely to see action before that though in the United States , possibly on the undercard of Taylor v Pavlik .


Light-Middleweight:#3 Henry Coyle is returning to action on the 14th of September on the same card as Alo Kelly , against a so far unamed opponent .


Light-Welterweight:#1 Dean Byrne faces Rolando Gerongco(13-26-0) in 5 days time . Should be a comfortable victory for the Australian title holder Byrne .

Lightweight:#1 Peter McDonagh and #2 Michael Gomez look set to face in a rematch , most likely on the undercard of Jamie Moore v Andrew Facey II if that goes ahead(which it looks like it will now) .

Super Featherweight:#1 Kevin O'Hara faces Darren Johnstone(10-0-0) for the vacant Celtic Super Featherweight title on the 8th of October .

Featherweight:#1 Martin Lindsay fights on the 14th of September in London against a yet to be named opponent .

#4 Paul Griffin also faces a yet to be named opponent on the 28th of September in Austrailia(where he is now based) .

I only got the info from boxrec(usually reliable for upcoming fights when it doesn't contain World class fighters that have non stop rumours about them) and they only have him listed on the card so far . They also have the fight listed as being on the Polish channel TVN .
