    hey,

was in chicago this summer. plenty of fun stuff to do, great fun aswell and great weather. not sure what happens during xmas. would prolly be quite a different expirience in winter than summer. i'm sure theres still plenty of stuff to do all year round though so i'd say go for it

Went in early december so can't tell you about the actual day but plenty of xmas related stuff to do around the city in December.

    Enjoyed my week there

Like the previous poster. I have been there over christmas but not for the day itself. I left after.
It will be magical though. It will be very cold and full of snow, probably even snowing on the day.
The Americans know how to do Christmas... although not a Christmas pudding in sight :D

    Great city!

I would like to further re-terate the coldness factor! I was there a few times during late november and it hit -12 on both occasions. Watch out for the ground frost and ice, it can be tretcherous.

Never seen Chicago at christmas but every other occasion I've been there I've had a brilliant time.

Also watch out for falling ice. There will be warnings but think about it. Some of the buildings are over 1000 feet high so if ice falls... well be carefull.
Very cold yes, but you know... i find it better than here as even though its so much colder, you are more prepared and better wrapped up. Its also a LOT less humid than here so its pure cold and not the damp cold we get.

It hit minus four fahrenheit when I was there! Now thats cold.

But you're on holiday so it doesn't really affect you. In & out of shops, bars restaurents etc and there's no hassle
