i had one. they were completely sh1t & made no sense. all you got was a number sent to you. either someone calling from a lan line or a voice message, which could only be accessed by calling a premium rete number.

Oh yes I had one - when I got a message I had to drive to the nearest phone box a half mile away to hear it and get charged a fortune to listen to it as well! Was killed off very quickly by Ready To Go thank God - pretty bloody pricey though if I recall about £130 at the time - Great ad campaign though with Antoine Des Caunes from Eurotrash!

The trick was to agree a list of pre-selected codes with your friends/family. I had one, and for example, I'd give my house the codes 111 112 113, which would correspond to 'Call home', 'Get your own dinner, we're going out', etc. Girlfriend was 211 212 213, and so on.

And once you used that, you could stay away from the nasty 1550 numbers. I then upgraded to a Motorola Pager from Pageboy, and I had my mobile diverted to it. These were the pre-text message days. It rocked (At the time of course).
