Is it just me, or are there some right muppets out there?!

Decided to play a stt on mermaid tonight for a change from cash. Anyway, quickly got into a lead, playing tight but aggressive.

About half hour in, I raised on the button with sooted connectors, straight n flsuh draw on flop and also top pair. I throw in a 3/4 pot sized bet. Two callers, on turn I make another pot sized bet. one fold, one call. Caller had c.800 left, I had about 2.5k left, call him all in.

River comes and goes. He shows down two pair (6,9o in hand) to take the pot. Fair enough, no complaints on my side. Next thing I know - I see "who plays 69" in chat. Then "crap cards" and a few more liek that. I jsut write back that it doesnt matter, they won for him. Take the beating, and just take his money/chips later if he's gonna play cards like that is my attitude.

Same table, about 4-5 hadns later, same player. I raise pre-flop with Q,J in LP. Two callers, both call my next bet of 80% pot (J hit on flop). At thsi stage I'm pot committed, so push on turn, one fold and villain calls - I have 350 left behind after his call. Once again I see snide commetns like "Cya poof", "later", "bye-bye" etc etc aimed at the other player..... The villain obviously hits, with yet another two pair! Hey, thats poker. I got over it, but wasnt too impressed by all the snide remarks aimed at the villain.

Whats going on?! Maybe there was some priors between the players at the table, but imo theres no need for that. It seems to me as if a lot of times online people are all too quick to throw out some smart-assed remark when theres no need........ I know there's the option of turning off chat or whatever, but would prefer not to!

Is this the way things are going in general, or am I just being an ass?!:o

*note, not saying this is just confined to Mermaid, this is only my second time playing there after the boards qualifier two wks back. I've seen it on quite a few otehr sites as well.

Happens everywhere, way too many Tony G's, Hellmuth's and Devilfish's out there.

Everyone seems to be a poker genius online, the other day I raised with 78s in the CO and button min-raises . I call and flop a J high straight vs his AA, we get it in on the flop and I get berated by him and a 'mate' at the table for calling a re-raise. My only chat at all these days is nh,gg,etc, these days unless I recognise someone I know.

It only detracts from my focus when trying to concentrate on other tables by keeping up the smalltalk.

I suspect a large majority of it is to try and tilt the other players in playing agressively at a tight villain. That, and assholes.
