This laptop won't cut it for games so I'm in the market for a nice PC.

Any good deals on some nice up to date PC's?

    Cheers,
    Zapp

take a look on this very page :D For instance the core 2 duo vostro from dell. Its basic but you can add in a decent graphics card to it.

I figured that the Vostro was only really a bargain if you were in the market for a low(ish) end PC. Would it be worth getting that Vostro, and sticking a Nvidia Geforce 8800 series graphics card in it? Are there no better high end bargains that would be better suited to play the likes of Crysis on?

Nothing that jumps out, it depends on what you mean by bargain. the vostro is a bargain. However its not a high end gaming PC and they cost a lot more.

ankermann is among the cheapest. I got 2 gaming rigs from them. A very high end one and a mid to high range one for my wife. They are cheaper than komplett and much cheaper/better quality than Dell's XPS systems.
to me a bargain high end gaming PC will cost around the €1500 mark. You will not get one sub 1k though, unless you dont include the graphics card. A decent gaming PC without a high end graphics card can be below 1k. Of course im not even including Quad core in this, im talking about dual core.

People tend to define Gaming PCs by all their components rather then just the necessary ones. For example the graphics card is the only part that's going to be definitely expensive these days and truly define whether or not your machine is going to be up to the task - I use a cheap 80 euro E2160 CPU overclocked and with my 8800 I can run pretty much anything maxed out at 1680x1050 without any issues.

Of course if moneys no object then it's nice to get the best of everything but on a budget building a gaming PC for under 1K is easily possible if you focus on the priority areas most (like the graphics card). Although maybe excluding the monitor in that....

    Agree....

There are a few good deals on the site Saruman gave....

    http://www.ankermann-pc.com/en/

The Mega Gaming Pc deal for €699 looks a good deal to me....

    INTEL Core 2 Duo E6550 2,336Ghz FSB1333 4MB+
    ASROCK ConRoe1333 D667 ATX BOARD
    NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB PCI-E TV/DVI
    1GB CORSAIR DDR-II RAM
    250GB MAXTOR SATA-II HDD | 500Watt CodeCom A-Power

Add windows xp and an extra gig of ram for €150 and you have a top class gaming pc for sub €1000....If you overclock you have a monster....

Will have a look on that Ankermann site. Is there any others apart from overclockers.co.uk?
