Why did it take so long for the wii to come out, i know people think the wii has great technology and all that and i thought it too but then i thought arcades have had simular technology for years. i mean why did it take so long to go from wires to wireless

I think the arcade stuff works off the special screen in the arcade machine, and a light from the gun/whatever... this is bluetooth, which is newer.

I think, anyway.. I couldbe talking out my ass. I just felt like posting.

You seem to be refering more to the remote more than the wii itself.
The concept of the wiimote could have easily been done ten years ago. It's basically just an accelerometer and an optical sensor. An optical sensor is the same as the stuff they use in light guns, the only difference is that a wii uses a sensor bar instead of using the light from the television screen.

Bluetooth has nothing to do with sensing the movements of the controller, bluetooth is just a worldwide low-power standard for wireless data transmission. It's purely incidental that the wiimote uses bluetooth.

No one was willing to take the chance of it falling on its ass.

I was a bit skeptical about it when i heard.

Thought Nintendo had hammered another nail into their coffin.

    But fare play to them
