Questions about luggage at airports.

    Hi,
I'm a bit of a aerport newbie. I'll be flying to australia soon and I'm planning on bringing a fair few bits of electronic gear with me (digital camera, mp3 player, portable media player and possibly and external harddrive). Is all this allowed to be carried or is it going to cause trouble at check in?

Is there anyone I can email with a list of what I plan to bring and whether it is allowed / not allowed so that I can find out now rather than at the gate?

Also if something gets regected upon inspection what happens to it? I've heard stories that it gets impounded and you won't get it back etc?

Also is it allowable to watch portable media players / mp3 on a plane? I've read about exceptions being made for using a laptop while flying but what's the deal about watching your own movies / listening to your own music during the flight?

Finally are aerosols (eg hairspray) totally banned or is there any option for carrying some?

    Thanks.

Generally you wont have much of a problem with this stuff, cameras are grand, as are media players, mp3 etc, and you are allowed use laptops, cameras, media players etc on aircraft.

The Hard-drive should be ok, they might question that though.....

Not too sure about the aerosols. Ring the airport you are flying from and ask

There are certain times on a plane where you are not allowed use your listed electronic items, but they will let you know when you can again.
