    Could anyone please tell me which of the following in the link below ( according to your experience) is the most accurate way to measure all body fat? I need to know for medical reasons. Thanks.

    I've heard calipers are not the best method.

    "The skinfold-based body fat estimation is sensitive to the type of caliper and technique used. It also only measures one type of fat: subcutaneous adipose tissue (fat under the skin), as opposed to other body fat deposits such as visceral adipose tissue: (fat in the abdominal cavity).

    Skinfold measurements are widely utilized to assess body composition as it is a lot simpler than hydrostatic weighing and many of the other body composition techniques. However, while using skinfold measurements can be used as a monitoring method to indicate changes in body composition over time, it is certainly not a valid predictor of percent body fat."

    The caliper method is more useful if you're just interested in losing 'visible fat'.

    You can buy weighing scales (widely available) that will tell you your body fat ratio, and I think even your body/water ratio, perhaps you should buy one.

    DEXA appears to be the most accurate but although the dosage is low, I'm not sure anyone wants regular x-rays. The IR method also looks good. Immersion is pretty good if you have access to it and are not a serious athlete. I'm not a fan of electrical impedence as hydration levels have such an impact. I actually quite like old fashioned calipers (7 site). Done by the correct person they give good results.
