Hi there..i really want to go to the arctic and as you cant exactly strap on your backpack and head off into it, it seems the only way to go is on board a research ship as part of a tour. And i might as well add now that it costs a lot of money...about 3500 to 5000 dollars!! I can only go august 2008 and it would be for about 14 days. The only thing is that it doesnt seem to be a place thats on most peoples hit list so im having difficulty finding a partner for this trip. I really want to find someone to join me so if anyone out there doesnt mind the freezing cold, mindblowingly beautiful nature, wildlife, being on a boat for 12 days, please contact me. I know its alot of money....i've given up smoking to fund this trip.....its a good incentive.....although my chewing gum expenses are really eating into my savings!! If you want to see what im looking at you can check out polarcruises.com.......its the best site ive found so far. Okay thats it really...hope to hear from somebody.....bye!!!!

allypal, it's somewhere I intend to visit myself though it'll be 2010 before I get out there.

One thing I do know is that you can get a ship much cheaper if you just hang around the dock they leave at down in Argentina. You need to be a bit more flexible in your timing but you'd save a grand or so on the trip which you could use to fund a bit of travel around South America ;)

It's a long way from Argentina to the Arctic. I wouldn't have any great faith in either of you as explorers!
