One of the rooms in the house we moved into badly needs the carpet replaced. I tried taking it up earlier but it is firmly glued down and will NOT BUDGE...

I can't just fit another carpet on it because there is a huge grease stain that I'm nearly certain would soak through a new layer and some of it's surface is uneven.

How will i get this thing up? Any ideas? It's glued to concrete underneath.

If it really has your head melted ,what you can do is get a stanley knife.
Cut the carpet into sections and try and lift it that way.
Most carpets are glued around the edges by about a foot or so.

    Try a spade?
Or, you can get a floor scraper from tiling/builders suppliers.
